Tried the Arko last night. Got a decent shave. Guess you could say I am neutral on the scent. Can see using it again but not in regular rotation. JMHO.

Arko...cheap but solid performer. Kinda like Volvo's they're boxy but they're safe kinda thing. Tabac on the other hand is one of my favorites. It took about a week to really begin to like the scent. If your embarrassed to smell like the 70's then don't use the cologne but the soap smell fades rapidly so not an issue.

Bottom line is it is stupid easy to lather, slick, mosturizing and VERY consistent as far as getting a great shave. My wife doesn't love or hate it but hey I paid for it and I don't tell her what perfume to wear...Become one with the Tabac and shave on! oh and don't worry the cool aid is fruit punch flavored. Drink up!

My puck of Tabac arrived today. I didn't think my order would arrive until Monday-
those Michigan folks are on the ball! The Tabac has a pleasant scent that is reminiscent of colognes from the 70s. I killed the lather beginning the second pass of my shave and had to re-load the brush. The result was some super lather. Thick and creamy. I'm going to enjoy dialing in this soap.

Funny how experiences vary, but I got the Tabac shaving cream, and I had no luck with it at all. Try as I might, I couldn't get a decent lather....varied the water, the amount of cream, the time I spent trying to build it, etc. Also, I'm not wild about the scent.

If anyone has tried both, does the soap lather better than the cream?

I have both soap and cream and deodorant, aftershave lotion, balm, etc... Love it!
For me both soap and cream lather pretty much the same, no significant difference.

Shaved with a Tabac puck today. SOTD: http://straightrazorpalace.com/shave...ml#post1516806

With Tabac and Czech & Speake I don't think I will need any other pucks. Both are incredibly good.
