    Default Meibner tremonia my observations

I finally broke down and went ahead and bought a jar of the Meibner Tremonia dark limes paste. I am almost out of my CAstle Forbes lime and wanted to Compare the two before I ran out of my castle Forbes.
First off the smell of Meibner Tremonia dark limes is much much stronger than the castle Forbes limes. Not that this bothered me but if you don't like strong smelling creams than Meibner Tremonia is not for you. To me the Dark limes smells like when you were a kid and you had a bowl of fruit loops with milk. I know it's a really really weird comparison but honest to goodness that's what it exactly smells like to me.
Second, the Meibner Tremonia seems to me to be a lot more work to get the paste to lather compared to the Castle Forbes. Once I got it to lather it was great and I had plenty of lather but it definitely took a lot more time to get it there.
last, the cushion of the Meibner Tremonia seems to be just as good as the castle Forbes. To me Where the Meibner Tremonia seems to outshine the castle Forbes was in its slickness. My razor glided through my whispers much smoother and faster than when I use the castle Forbes.
I'm glad that I tried something new besides the castle Forbes lime. My wife absolutely loves smell of the castle Forbes lime, more than the smell of fruit loops with milk, so I will end up getting another jar of castle forbes lime from straight razor designs once I run out. Best to keep the wife happy but I will Keep the Meibner Tremonia in my Rotation and I am very very happy with my purchase. Maybe next time I will try mint ice menthol instead.

Most lime shaving products tend to be a sweet lime or light lime. The tremonia is not. it's what it says "dark". It's just heavy, more an adult scent.

They are simply different scents. Castle Forbes uses fresh limes, Meißner Tremonia dried (or "black", hence the name) limes.

As far as intensity is concerned, I find the acidic scent of Castle Forbes far more intrusive. But that is maybe a matter of personal preference.

As an aside, it's Meißner, not Meibner. ß is a voiceless s, not a b.

I received a sample of this with an order from SRD, and, well, I ended up placing another order. I guess I'm a sucker for marketing.

I like the scent and the lather, and it works well when followed up with bay rum aftershave. I really dislike mixing scents that don't work together, so I try to have soap, balm/aftershave, and cologne (if used) all complementary.

The ingredient list includes "black clay" so I assumed that was the source of the dark part of the name.

I have Castle Forbes lime, which I must say, I find very nice. I haven't tried the Meissner Tremonia dark limes. I have MT Strong 'n' Scottish, which is a very strong, acquired taste. I absolutely love it. I find it goes well with my patchouli scents too. Once my Castle Forbes is gone, I may have to try the MT dark limes.

I just got a sample of the MT Strong n Scottish. That might go on my list to get someday if I can find an aftershave balm or splash that complements the scent. I like to smell patchouli, even have a plant, but don't like to smell like it.

I didn't realize there was such a thing as black limes. Thanks for posting the link to the explanation, RobinK.

Where would Truefitt & Hill and Geo. Trumper fit in, with the fresh lime alongside Castle Forbes?

Unless they've changed their scents in the last six years, Truefitt & Hill "West Indian Limes" is more like (yet still unlike) Meißner's "Dark Limes". Sweeter, and I am not overly fond of bergamot/neroli combinations. Trumper always struck me as a great cream with a really strange lime scent. I never cared for it much, but it might please people who like sweet lime scents.

Oh. Yes. Too bad the actual reviews have gone. I did this six years ago: http://straightrazorpalace.com/soaps...shoot-out.html

Got some with my last order from Don. I like the limes, much deeper and spicy aroma, have not used it yet. The strong and Scottish is not what I expected. Very smoky and peaty. Dont think it is for me. I had a black beer sample and it has a very nice aroma. I almost went with the Morroccan Rhassoul but passed for the Scottish instead. I had a sample of it in my box as well. Very aromatic, I could smell it before I opened the box. Deep spice and sandlewood aroma. I will be ordering on of them when my SRD sandlewood runs out. The wife likes all of them except for the strong and scottish, same reaction. Way to smokey and strong.

The Moroccan Rhassoul smells like bay rum to me.

I like the strong n Scottish scent, for those specific reasons.
