Maybe they decided to adopt the Apple's strategy: offer a good product, but keep the price high. Play in the luxury category. This seems to be working for them.

Thanks for that ingredient comparison Birnando, I agree about the MDC being pricey guys, I'll probably keep dragging my heels about picking that one up for a while, grab one eventually though. Sure sounds worth trying from all the reviews I've read. Thanks guys !

Scott, it's worth trying it at least once. Before I went to France in August, I was thinking about getting a few jars, and the sell them (at cost price) in pieces so that others could try it as well. Unfortunately, I never got to PlanĂȘte Rasoir. Maybe next tie.

Hi patricksrp, I'm going to get the MDC by the end of this year, too many great reviews about it, even though it's a little pricey I just have to check it out.

I think you'll like it. As you would have read by now, you don't need a lot to make a good lather. The best thing with MDC is your first shave with it. And if I may recommend one thing, it would be to use a badger brush instead of a boar brush. I love using a boar brush, but for some reason MDC seems to work better with a badger brush.

No problem there, I've always been a badger brush man.

I've been using MdC for most of this weeks shaving and I've had it in the rotation for a couple of years.

On a cost per container basis....yup it's "spendy" as my friends in the Great NW say...

On a per shave basis it comes in as a great value, it's magical how little you need to get great results. And you need to love it 'cause that jar will last forever.

I have found the exact opposite. Perhaps your spell checker kicked out a "not"

I, and others, use about 8 to 10 light swirls to get a fantastic lather. Per the MdC website, a jar should be sufficient for 365 shaves.
If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Vis-Ă-vis Savonnerie du bon Berger? Not my feeling at all.

Let us focus on features that are not entirely subjective: Ability to lather; glide; skin care. In my humble opinion, ability to lather is equal; SdbB has slightly better glide, not that it really matters, because MdC's is quite sufficient; aftershave skin care: SdbB wins by leaps and bounds.

Granted, the latter point is the most subjective, but MdC positively dries out my skin. Even if used for two days in a row. That is the real deal breaker for me. There are quite a few soaps around that are efficient, and effective. Compared to those, MdC falls miserably short in that department. Otherwise nice, but I refuse to spend money on soaps that fall short in any department.

And yes, I really like Savonnerie du bon Berger. A lot. Blame it on Wim.
