Default Saving excess lather from soaps?

Ok, I will probably awnser my own question. But when you're done shaving and you have a lot of excess lather you made from your soap (not creams), do you just put the excess back into the bowl/mug? I would figure that you do as you can always rebuild your lather at next shave. But is there any reason to discard the excess lather?

I use MWF and often have a lot left in the brush from loading as well as a good amount in a lathering mug. So I just take the excess from my brush and put it back into the container of MWF and rebuild it for next shave.

You can do it either way, which ever you like. Me, I just rinse what is left down the drain.

Load a little less MWF next time,,, start with a fresh batch each time.

I gently wipe the excess lather from the brush and put it back into the soap/cream bowl.

If no room is available I put the excess into the "bits and pieces" mug to use as pre-lather.

I am not sure how much extra life this gives to a puck or cream but it has to amount to something.

I guess it is not so much trying to extend the life of my puck of MWF (i've only been SR Shaving for 6 weeks so my puck looks barely used) as it is wondering if recycling unused lather will affect the quality of subsequent latherings and thus, subsequent shaves.

I doubt recycling unused lather would effect the quality of subsequent lathers or shaves.

Mr Uberlather here. I start a lather bowl of a few drops of glycerin, a dab of Maca root, a small squeeze of any tube shaving cream and a brush full of MWF. After the shave I strip the brush of excess lather, add a few drop of water to keep it somewhat hydrated and leave the lather till the next shave. I refresh the uber with two drops of glycerin and any two-part combo of shaving cream(tub or tube) and a brush full of what ever hard puck I choose that day. Repeat the end of shave ritual for the next day use. I will clean out the lather bowl maybe every seven to ten days and starts over again. Nothing but good daily lather ensues.

I shower after I shave. That itself is somewhat unusual. I take any excess lather and apply it to my head, over my hair. Then I get into the shower. I am careful not to rinse the old lather out of my hair from shower to shower. Ultimately this builds up a thick crust of dried lather which, if you are diligent, can be shaped as its applied to make an actual hair style. When this lather coif reaches terminal thickness, I gently remove it and use the entire concave surface as a lathering bowl. This can last though many shaves. As the bottom gets thin, I fold in the perimeter until I am left with a puck which I return to the puck bowl. No one has ever complained about my lather. Of course, I'm the only one who has seen it.

I tried that once but noticed that I ended up with a bunch of shaved whiskers in the soap,

I mean, how much does it really waste anyway,

It may just be me but I usually never have any lather left.. 2 passes and no lather..

Maybe I'm just not loading enough to have waste.
