    I'll second this.

    Thanking you.

I am glad I took the time to learn how to make the different soaps work, which was a learning curve for a couple of them. What a range of variables out there. A few of disappointments till I found this thread. After trying a couple of benchmark soaps/creams I haven't had any disappointments. I've got one to go for 1st Tier, next month, it will be in the mail. Still undecided though on scented or unscented XPEC.

It would be great if someone in the know, I'm still fumbling a bit, would start threads for "Pre-shave" and "Post-shave" products like this one. I know a fair amount of this stuff is subjective but reading through and studying the different insights shared here a person can make fairly educated guesses and selections that most likely will suit their needs and pocket book. The more expensive products can be $cary if turns out you don't like it.

Again, thanks OBIE and fellow contributors.

In my opinion, xpec is a wonderful soap. The scented version has an earthy and "natural" smelling aroma that I can't really compare to anything else that I have tried. If you are on the fence, old town shaving has samples of them for sale.

I think I've said it before, but this is still a great thread. And this quote is a great example of the individuality caveat of shaving: Green Mountain Soap is among the best I've ever tried. For me, top tier for sure due to ease of use, stability, scent, and most importantly (for me) post-shave feel. At their price point very hard to beat, especially if you happen to live in the US.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but I shaved today with Truefitt and Hill's Ultimate Comfort shaving cream. I got this in a sample pack and this stuff is some next level stuff. Also when you get the sample pack they give you a 25% coupon with the purchase. I will definitely be picking this up. Anyone who has skin issues should try this. It is better then CF, or Esbjer IMO!!!!

    VAPDGUY,
I have all the Truefitt & Hill creams, including Ultimate Comfort, in the Second Tier. I have used the Ultimate Comfort (unscented, by the way) and it is quite good. I would not put it above Castle Forbes or Esbjerg in overall quality, but that does not detract from this fine shave cream. It is especially good for sensitive skin. Good stuff.

I really like their creams I have a tub of ultimate comfort and have a soap as well, I am with Obie however on this as there is just something missing for me, it is almost T1, but if forced to choose from other T1 soaps it doesn't quite do it. That said I will probably buy it again which says a lot given the strong competition at the top...

Obie, I have tried all your T1 selections now... 5 of these I had not tried before so some new experiences there. I think all of them deserve to be T1 although I think some I might not buy again just out of preference. Of the 5 new soaps, I really like the Alvares Gomes cream (latest purchase) this seems a lot like Baum Be but I prefer the scent.
I did not really like Xpec cream on day one but I am getting on with it now, I think some soaps are like that for me, so I try them a few times over a couple of months before boxing them. Czech & Speak I like and glad I bought this one too. Esbjerg cream, I bought the sensitive skin one as that was the only one in stock, I haven't used it much but I took promising. Another great product is the Klar Seifen soap. Once again thank you Obie as I have added some great products to my line up and I like all of them. Some of them need a bit more work than others but all worth the effort in the end. I also think I have improved my lathering skills in the process.

Thanks Obie for all of your great recommendations. I have worked my way through most of your T1 suggestions, and they are all fabulous.

Alvarez Gomez seems to be a cream I reach for again and again. I am not sure why it doesn't get more discussion.

One that has moved to first tier for me after using it for 3 weeks is Vegulde Hand Extra Fris. Cheap as chips. Great slick, nice post shave feel and nice scent that is not over powering
