Glide is close to my perfect soap, but I tend to reserve it for when I want a super slick lather for a particular straight. I often somewhat arbitrarily choose my morning soap based upon what scent I feel like using, although I have been enjoying the scent of Morning Ghost. I do use a DE or SE a couple times a month when I'm rushing off to an early morning meeting and I don't have time to enjoy a good shave with a straight. Schick injectors were certainly popular in their day. I used a Fat Boy and a Slim for nearly fifty years. I now primarily will use a Cobra Classic, a Timeless Bronze, or a OneBlade Core when in a hurry.

    And a couple of hours later, wonder why I love my straights...T H E B U R N!!!

Sheesh, forgot about the neck burn I get from DE/SE's....like a ring of fire around my neck.

And Obie - the Castle Forbes Pre-Shave, you turned me on to that stuff years ago - nothing has ever come close - superb stuff and love it.

Only pre-shave IMO, that does what it's supposed to do, doesn't ruin the lather and turn your brush into a blob of goop...wish I had of used it today.....

If you read the ingredients list, Nuavia Blu appears to be almost identical to MdC with added shea butter and marigold extract. The scent is of course different.

Nuavia Blu Ingredients from the label:
    Stearic Acid
    Water
    Coconut oil
    Potassium hydroxide
    Shea butter
    Glycerin
    Fragrance
    Marigold

MdC Ingredients from the label, fougere (older stock)
    Stearic acid
    Water
    Coconut oil
    Potassium hydroxide
    Glycerin
    Parfum (fragrance)

I've always felt that Nuavia performed very similarly to MdC which would be expected from the similarity in the ingredient lists. I prefer the scents of MdC, and the post shave feeling of MdC which is very soft skin with nothing on it. I do understand that many folks want some goop in their soaps for the post shave feel they like, and that's all well and good. I just prefer to do that with my AS products of choice.

    Cheers, Steve

I'm afraid I have not tried Glide yet. The shave den is stuffed with shave soaps and creams and I need to wait for a while before buying more stuff.

Any chef will tell you that the quality of the dish doesn't lay solely in the list of the ingredients.

Think of it like genes. We and chimps have very little difference in our genetic makeup but that slight difference is all the world.

Of course with some folks I don't know-Har har.

    Re-thinking Panna Crema

    Gentlemen,
After moving Panna Crema to the Second Tier, we had enough opinions against my negative assessment of the soap that I am compelled to follow the general consensus and move it back to the First Tier. My mama always said to be a good boy and be humble.

Hey Obie. Since I last visited with my view on the Nera, I also had the opportunity to try the Blu. It wasn't exactly the scent I had hoped for, though still very nice. Performance was the same as Nera, more or less.

I'd say you must do as you feel is fair - Not only fair to Panna Crema Nuavia, but also to those who keep it company within the same Tier.
