My own preference in terms of scent is the original. I think the original smells somewhat like fresh laundry, perhaps washed with a soap with a slight cologne scent. Tempete is more subtle. I mostly pick up a slight woody scent, but that might just be the scent picked up from the wooden container. When lathered, I don't pick up much scent at all. They both lather extremely well and are a joy to use.

Phil at Bullgoose carries three scents. The original, which is to me kind of a light sweet fougere, think sweet LaToja. The tempete, pictured above, is in an ash (IIRC) 'bowl' with the paper lid. Tempte means storm and is intended to smell like a hardwood woods after a rain, and it does - think wet oak. The other flavor is unscented.
