    Default MDC nah

I shouldn't complain I suppose but I just feel a bit let down.

Purchased an MDC Fern. My first ever soap.

I only use Xpec or Acqua Di Parma so that's what I'm comparing the MDC to.

Last night I whipped up a lather which took more effort than I'm used to and I was not impressed . It was more like a rich foam compared to my normal rich creams.

Value wise, yeh it looks like it will last a life time where as Acqua Di Parma is day light robbery, it costs a fortune and there is barely an eye full in the tub. Xpec is great value I think, considering its quality and longevity .

MDC is not in the same league as my creams .

Thought I'd share that with you

Nothing to see, the popcorn is just a comment on what your assessment of MdC is likely to generate in the form of responses. It is not a comment on your assessment, however.

    oh

I spoke to my brother today, he is versed in shaving soaps and told me that I have to work it more .

Edit: P.S I think Castle Forbes shaving creams are rubbish (did I over step ?)

For me foam is generated when I have too much water in the brush and not enough product loaded. Not saying you did that but it is a possibility especially coming off creams where a little product is actually enough.

to each his own....the famous YMMV...so happens that MDC and Castle Forbes are my favorites. I'd be glad to take them off your hands.

YMMV and all that. I've tried all the expensive soaps and non really hold a candle to some inexpensive soaps like Barbus and MonSavon.

    Ouch, adding insult to injury.

I think your brother and Mainman have it right for MdC. Try loading more product with a drier brush and then build the lather adding a bit of water at a time.
