    Default After Proraso

    Hi guys,

Been shaving with the green for 3-4 years.
What should I try next. To me I would like to reduce irritation, maybe get a thicker face lather. Something tried and tested that I can get in Australia without paying too much of a premium.

    Ideas?

Have you figured out what might be causing the irritation. There are many possibilities, among which could be using too much pressure, a reaction to soap ingredients such as menthol, Shea butter and for some lanolin. Water temp can also be a cause. Many find relief by switching to cold water shaving. Simple definition of that is any temp cooler than hot. Cold water from the fridge , or cold from the tap, or even lukewarm can alleviate irritation. A number of shavers have solved the problem by switching to a non-scented shaving soap/cream.

Mensbiz & shaver shop $ shave hut are all in Aus and online with lots to try
Also try the TOBS Jermyn street or Paroso White for sensitive skin if these irritate still it is something else,
Also try a cold water shave I found it helps also

Tobs are on the list to be honest.

The irritation is weird. Only becomes apparent 12 hours after the shave. And not itchy, skin is red and bumpy, might be ingrowns but I don't get the embedded hair thing. Thinking it just is the skin reacting to the hair growing through it.

Ps. This is more an excuse to try something new.

Try Proraso white, low allergenic. Cella is another good one, Arko and MWF. If you can't get Proraso green to give a nice thick lather after 4 years I would recommend another tub of Proraso green with less water...

No I am fully happy with the lather, its just that I do not want something to give me a lesser quality one.

If you are showing the irritation that long after shaving I would think a trip to a dermatologist would be in order. To my brain that says there are other things going on there and should be checked out.

That's the weird bit. The irritation (redness) starts after that timeframe. After the shave itself, All is good.

Try the blue Rami, it's got a great scent that might agree with you.
