I just tried Route 66 over the weekend. Great, slick soap that is easy to lather.

This is a great thread! I love the fact that there are great, affordable, domestic shave soaps. I have never heard of the ones mentioned in this thread but anxious to try them all.

I have to put in a good word for Ogallala Bay Rum soap since it's made in my state. I really like their bay rum aftershave as well.

I have tried several artisan American soaps and always gravitate back to Mama Bear's. She is making sticks and has a lot of new products listed. Just bought 4 years worth of soap :<0)
I would also give special mention to Dirty Deeds I bought off Etsy. Took me awhile to get used to making lather with it but it is a nice soap that I purchased to match Cool Water cologne. They sent a sample of cedar/something (a LARGE sample) along with it I enjoy also.

Sampson's All Natural. Closest thing you'll find to MdC made here in the states. I also like Barrister and Mann, and Cold River Soap Works. I have 2 pucks of Green Mountain that I need to grate.

Do you know if they sold in any brick-and-mortar stores in Nebraska?

For me B&M is one of the better American made soaps. Dr. John's is getting higher on my list, I need more head to head but I am beginning to think it is a bit better then B&M.
Currently trying Shannon's Soap and initial impression is very positive, good slickness not great volume but it seems to work well.

CB does not make good lather for me, and others that I sent samples to.
PAA I will try tomorrow, got samples from a friend. The Cavendish is very sweet scent and quite a bit inferior to Dr. Jon's Black Label

I personally think that all American artisans have ways to go before they can get to the level of their European conterparts and even more ways to go before reaching the quality of the top established brands such as CF, XPEC, Dr Harris etc.

By the way, in addition to good soaps, Ogallala Bay Rum of course sells bay rum aftershave and cologne. I really like the bay rum, peppercorns and lime.
