I shouldn't read soap threads, as I already have more than would last two lifetimes. However, this one is different enough that it's worth a trial. I also just ordered Krokos from Italian Barber, although it looks like it might take awhile before it's shipped.

That is a big ditto for me. I joined SRP in 2007 and was a few years into my single puck of soap at that time. Before joining and learning of other options, I only used one soap at a time and I have yet to finish that soap, or any other soap, since joining SRP. I have enough soap to last me well over a hundred years, given that each puck lasts over 5 years.

That said, I ordered two pucks--a krokos and a biscuit. They sounded too good to pass up!

Excellent soap. Wonderful scents, great cushion and slickness!

The scent sounds interesting but it seems to me your typical stearic/coconut oil croap. I think I'll wait and see on this one when the shine wears off.

Ok here's the short and sweet.
After a few lathers I got what I consider the soaps best results. It is a thirsty soap, but not one you have to waterlog.
I got what I wanted with 30 swirls and really whipped it up adding water like I do with Mitchell's Wool Fat. It does like to rest for a minute or two to really bloom, after that I worked it into my palm looking for the glide and how well it held up.

My shave will be in the morning, but what I,m feeling is this is a great soap, and the scent is very subtle, you know it's saffron, yet it wisps away pretty quick, this kinda teases you, if you like saffron, this will not make you feel like your in a kitchen with it, but this is good.

Glide is really nice, and the lather does not break down, I had one batch out for a good 35 minutes and no falling down. I'll wait till my shaves are done to really rank this soap. Right now. Love it

Price wise, it's in a 150 ml jar and at the price I paid I've done the math, it is as expensive as MDC, because with them you 200 ml and it takes less product, but that does not diminish the quality of this soap, I will be using it for a couple of weeks to really get a feel for it, but top notch lather it is. I got a sample of Krokos Saffron from TC to try. Used it this morning. My initial impression is that it is an excellent performer that lathers easily but a bit on the thirsty side. If I had to fault it, the almost complete lack of scent would be the only thing so far. From what little scent I could detect that might be just as well for me. It is off to a very good start for me.

After a week of solid use, that s my impression too Bob. It's almost a non scented soap, which is good for a lot of people, the subtle saffron scent quickly goes away so there is no interference with aftershave products. This is the single fault I have with it in my opinion, one of the things that makes a number one soap for me is scent, I am drawn to certain scents. Now of course scent or no scent this soap performs well, easy to lather, smooth glee and cushion, and it does not break down. Just an all around great lather. Tc

Yes, I do prefer a soap to have a decently strong scent that is to my liking. OTH having little to no scent is not much of a problem either. The main thing is that it is easy to lather and the lather is excellent. I will use it further but if it works well at first go I don't see my initial impression changing much if at all. Thank you much for the sample.
