Well It came in the mail in 2 days from when I ordered it threw amazon for $14.99. I was happy about that. I like the tin it came in, I enjoyed the smell very much, it smelled to me like a deep rich vanilla and a pleasant BBQ smoke mixed together. That is the best way I can describe it. It lathered up very nicely and it gave me a smooth gliding feel while I shaved.
I don't have much to compare it to as I am new to using soaps and have only used the Van Der Hagen. It was definitely an improvement from the Van Der Hagen! I did order the Baume be. today and look forward to comparing that to the Smolder. I will post my thoughts when I receive and use it. I also have the Castle Forbes on my wish list. So that will be next.

I am happy to hear that there is a smoky soap out there. I have had to make mine from a good mild soap leftovers and a bar of "pine tar" soap and double mill them together with a kitchen grater.
I shall try it. Thank you!

each soap is different, in my opinion it depends on how much soap you put on the brush and how much water you use to make it. i find the soaps dry out faster then the creams
