only cream i have used is the Cade from L'Occitane, but it seemed i needed alot more of the cream to build a good lather than what i use with the soaps.

BTW.anyone ever smell that Cade.......MMMmmmm.....wish i could find that scent elsewhere.

I myself have not tried any Creams, but I find that the soaps do nothing to 'wreck' my skin. I even have some of my dad's Old Spice Shaving Soap, in the original mug

I guess my face can just tough it out and I don't get that irritated.

I get a better shaving lather with less fussing about using soaps. No need to worry about water ratios or how many shakes to give the brush or what type of bowl/scuttle to use. And no soap scum to speak of - it may be my water, but all shaving creams leave a thick waxy soap scum all over the sink and in my brush, so cleanup is a chore and my brush needs shampooing every week to keep it from going completely hydrophobic. With soaps it gets a shampooing every 6 months whether it needs it or not. Soaps FTW, every day.

Soaps are my go to, sold all the creams a few months back. Ive found lathering with the soaps to be more consistent and simple. Performance and scent of the good soaps (T&H Luxury, Mitchell's, L'Occitane, HBS, etc) have been on par with any of the 3 Ts creams Ive used.

I started out with soaps and just stuck with them. Seems easier than worrying about water to lather ratio. The soap is in the mug and ain't going anywhere. Just batter that boy till you get good lather. If you get too much water, just pour it out and keep going. Besides it's more fun to stack pucks of good smelling soap in your linen closet and have everything smell good than tubes of cream.

Soaps here. I find I can get a bit closer and better feedback with the soaps. On weekends I will use creams for a luxurious change of pace though.

Tried some C&E Nomad cream I bought on Friday this weekend. Seems to work well, but still need to work on my lathering skills.
