I had the same thing and used warm water and washing up liquid with a small amount of pressure and perseverance and it worked just fine. I may have even used a plastic pan scourer with light pressure but I can't remember.
Fact: Opinions are not the same as facts... Well, that's my opinion anyway

Thanked: 171I did that with my various D.R. Harris soap bowls to keep the sticker from starting to look ugly.
(Not sure whether that qualifies as some sort of obsession. )
Technically, it is not that difficult and you can remove the remaining sticky residue with lighter fluid or some other concoctions that are sold for the purpose (e.g. Goo Gone).
In my case, it did not stain the wood.
The drawback is that D.R. Harris soaps have a rather weak scent, I have five versions of them, and it makes it more difficult to figure out now which one is which.

Thanked: 0Main layer came off okay, I'll try some WD40 next. I've used that on jar labels, wasn't sure if it would be for the wood, let's give it a try...
