Default Removing the label from wooden bowls

Slightly odd one, this, but has anyone removed the labels off the wooden bowls that some soaps come in, and with any success? I have a Geo F Trumper bowl (although filled with DR Harris these days!), and I'd like to take the label off it, but before I begin, I wanted to check if there are tried and true methods I should use...

Just pull it ff and wipe off the sticker residue, if it's stubborn use a little rubbing alcohol or thinner. Tc

"Pam" works on the adhesive on bumper stickers. It's basically Canola oil (rape seed oil) in a spray.

Use go-gone, peanut butter, alcohol. They all work.

Any domestic grease cleaner you'll find under the sink.

I have used Alcohol and it did not turn out that great.
Acetone would be another bad idea although it would make quick work of the glue.

It was a nice DR. Harris Mahagony bowl an it turned out thet the finish does not tahe to alcohool that kindly...the wood lost it's finish where i rubbed to get the glue out.

The safest way is to let the cap in hot tap water till the lable in nice and soft...rub the paper off and you are left with the glue.
After that use your thumbs to push the glue aside while keeping it hot with water. or a blow dryer....also use a lint free towel to rubb of the residual glue.

...and yes you can use detergen and degreaser to remove some of the glue.
my 2 cents, hope it works out for you

In dealing with wood I'd go with something oil based, such as the PAM, Goo-Gone or peanut butter. These seem the least likely to do any harm to the wood and should get rid of the adhesive with little effort.

Sometimes using a hairdryer to heat the sticker will help it to peel off easily.

Thanks all, protecting the wood is my main concern, so I'll avoid the alcohol and maybe just try the soaking first. Never heard of using peanut butter...!

WD40 is generally good for gently removing stickers which are paper-based. A bit dribbled on the sticker a few times allows a soft plastic scraper or even a fingernail to remove the bulk and a rag to get the rest.
