I just got my first puck of MDC and now I understand what all the hype is about. I just love it

It came with an instruction card which recommended that you leave the top off and let it dry that way. Does anyone do that?

Yep. I keep my lid on loose on the two SUPER GENEROUS samples Tc sent my way that I keep in some generic soap tins.

On second thought. Honestly it's a big hassle and if I were you I wouldn't even bother with it...just send it my way and I'll relieve you of the burden!

I read this too but still put the l8ds on the jars. Just helps to keep it clean. Now i will leave the lid off for a few hours after the shave to help dry what water i might have added to it while loading my brush. I think some better scents would be nice, but its hard to beat the performance from this soap.

I find if you leave the lids off soaps over time the scent tends to dissipate.

I try and leave the cover off for an hour or so after use so it dries but cover it after that. Of course my MDC is the "Brain" version in a wood cup so there is no cover so I had to rig up a cover of sorts.

I just put the lid on it without screwing it down.

Their brain bowl is uncovered, and seems to maintain it's scent. However, I shave in the morning and leave the cover off hard soaps, such as MdC, to dry out during the day, then cover them in the evening.

I have a "brand new" MDC Brain Bowl which I haven't touched yet. It's still in the paper wrapping. I guess I got it 3-4 years ago. It's lost probably 60% of the scent.

In my experience with one brain bowl, once you start lathering the outer layer away, the scent will come back. However, mine didn't sit for 3 - 4 years as I started using it right away, although it seemed like 3 - 4 years until I had polished it off, as I only used it once or twice a week.
