Thanked: 171I don’t get it: Why foresake Cognac just to concentrate on Scotch?
In my world they co-exist in perfect harmony.

The Castle Forbes Lavender is sublime, not a fan of the Sandalwood, the Lime really grew on me.
Now the new Castle Forbes 1445....wow, a mind blowing experience in every way, massive scent and CF performance.
Still, the Castle Forbes Lavender, it really doesn't get much better.
Having said that, the CF Lavender side by side against the MdC Fougere, I can't call it, depends on the day, the brush, the razor, the mood. I'll just say it's nice to have two soaps that really shine like these two magnificent examples do.
So much so, my soap whore tendencies have dropped as of late, HarryWally posted a great supplier in St. Catharines, Ontario, essentially local so shipping would be easy, and couldn't bring myself to buy one soap. I DID NOT ORDER ONE SINGLE SOAP!! ARGHHH!!! LOL....
So many artisan soaps, and after so many purchases, so much disappointment.
I just can't bring myself to order any more funky named concoctions that are really no different that at home candle making...with the rare exception, most just don't perform.
So thank the Heavens and Hell's above and below for Castle Forbes and Martin de Candre....

Thanked: 171Well said.
Once we become serious about classic shaving most of us may go through a phase where we can’t resist the urge to try too many new products just because someone sang its praises.
Over time I settled down, found what works best for me, and after that it became much harder to interest me in a new product because I had now raised the bar and past experience taught me that many of the new products just didn’t measure up to it.

I agree, and am in alignment, with my fellow brother soap whore. Have tried too many crappy or mediocre soaps that I have no real desire to keep going there anymore. Haven't purchased any for quite a while...rather put my coins into a decent razor or stone or strop than chase the Dragon and come away with another shitty soap that ends up getting binned (I won't donate or PIF junk).
With the above said, MdC and CF are both stellar and set the bar for what can be achieved in a soap's performance. Both simply work and work exceptionally well...they are damn near foolproof in how well they perform.
So here's a high-five to you, bro Andrew...Lord Thunderin' Jesus, let's go buy some blades!Jay
