I keep reading about people having trouble with Mitchell's lathering. I've never had an issue with it. I just put hot water in it for about 5 minutes before I use it, pour the water out and then work it with the brush. Not once have I ever had trouble getting it to lather but then I like my lather rather flat. I don't like it all puffy like whipped cream the way the canned goo comes out.

La Toja and Arko are much easier to raise a lather with. Arko seems like you just look at it and it lathers.

Boy that guy spends a lot of time working the lather on his face. See I don't really do that. I like the soap to be very thin on my face. I've always done it that way. That was the way my dad showed me. I get my lather more wet and then brush it onto my face. I don't really work the lather on my face like that.

Each to their own. I don't care for a really thin lather, it lacks slickness to me. YMMV

If you ever do try MWF, be sure and let us know how you think the two compare.

I think my Dad did that because he predominantly used a DE which I did for a number of years also....still do if I'm in a hurry. To me it seems like the thick lather clogs up in the DE and especially bad in cartridges. I think that's part of the reason why I got a rash from the cartridges. Of course that may vary with the soap too. I never really paid much attention to the soaps until fairly recently

Yes, there is such a thing as too thick/pasty a lather which can clog DEs/SEs/Carts but that same too thick/pasty a lather is not slick enough for use with a straight razor. There is a middle ground that works all around.

I gave up. Returned it and ordered a cake of Trumpers sandalwood soap.

That is a shame, it took me quite a few tries to get MWF to lather up. Glad I stuck it out though. I am surprised that a seller would take a return on a used puck of soap.
