That’s interesting. I bought a tub of Cella and some Cella aftershave to go with it a couple three months ago. First let me say that Cella smells like heaven, but I ended up ditching the cream into the bowels of my den as I couldn’t get a nice glide out of it as compared to the stuff I’m using these days.

Now that I think about it, maybe I should mix it with my Acca Kappa 1869, I bet they would compliment each other.

Anyway the aftershave balm is meh as well. Does NOT smell like the soap at all!!

I’ll revisit it. Never a bad thing to do!

I aim to keep my soap budget under $10 US a year, therefore I have not tried many of these more expensive soaps.

They probably are great but I chose to not go down this hole and spend my money on other arguably foolish things.

It's funny sometimes that we all have different AD's we choose to indulge with our disposable income. I have spent a fair amount on straights and strops, for example (though far less than some of you, apparently!). But I have never bought a safety razor, as cool as I think they are. I've just got a Gillette SuperSpeed I inherited, and that's enough for me (plus a Rolls Razor I play with on occasion). The few brushes I have were mostly fabricated for me by friends (not to mention my favorite badger that my engineer son fabricated for me from brass); I just can't see spending a fortune on various brushes. Hell, I could get by with my $12 Tweezerman brush I keep in the shower to the end of time, and not feel deprived.

Other than that, my weakness is for trying new soaps and creams, and to a lesser extent, aftershaves. That I will splurge on!

I am not sure where you guys buy soap or what the shipping/price is in other countries but I pay $14 USD for MWF and $9 for Tabac (both shipped to my door). I have been using them with two other soaps (mainly) for over a year now and they barely have a dent in them. MDC comes in 7oz tubs (200g) and the others are around 4 oz, so MDC lasting ~twice as long should be expected just based on quantity. I think if you like MDC and choose to buy it, you don’t have to justify the cost to anyone. It is a luxury product.

I prefer Tabac and MWF and have been noticing that I tend to use Tabac the most. Probably because I also enjoy pairing it with a Tabac AS.

You should copy and paste that into a thread entitled, “Where do you get the most joy?” Or some such.

Generally speaking I’m with you. Soaps/aftershaves are my huckleberry’s. But then, I did buy that R41 I’d been thinking about for years just cuz... I waited too long! What a shave!
