    Default Wholly Kaw!

Ok, so I heard a lot of good things about the old “Wholly Kaw” brand, so I did what any sane man would, and bought a sample.

    Heck yeah!!

Here’s my scent impressions. Being it’s summer, each one was too winter/fall(ish) for me. That’s not to say they weren’t yum, they were, but I’d have enjoyed em in the winter more. As it stands, of the six, “Man Feom Mayfair” won out for favorite scent, but man that “King of Oud” was some weird and funky smelling stuff that I think again, in the winter, I would love.

Ok, for all you brush guys out there, my Simpson Comidor wasn’t srong enough to lather it well. It’s a soft soap, croapish really, but “baby needs back” to get her to blossom shall we say. Lol

When you do have a lather made, you’ll be rewarded with cushion. And if this was 3 to 5 years ago, I’d be gushing! But it’s not, and hence, though the cushion I feel is good, very good, I can’t put it at the top.

Where I can put it dang near top is the after effect! If your face doesn’t feel soft afterwards, you may have sun worshiped too much as a kid. Nom, nom. Oh it feels nice. It’s got great ingredients! No question!

Now that I’ve tried them all, I’m going to send it to a dude who I know will give me his honest take. A dude who has good taste in spite of the fact that it doesn’t always agree with mine.

I’ll have em in the mail soon Mark aka Speedster. I can’t wait to hear your interpretation.

Oh hey Mark, I got your mystery soaps ready too lol!! Seven of them! And 3 splashes for you to try. Match the splashes after the corisponding soap #. FYI, they are all mentholated. Nom, nom.

Just so everyone knows, Mark and I like doing these blind reviews so that we get a little different insight to soaps. It’s not perfect, but it’s fun.

Anyway, these containers are remarkably big! That’s not to imply anything other than you should get multiple shaves out of em brother. Feel free to throw the whole sample in a bowl and let us know what you think of it after a week or so!

If you’d like, I can tell you what brands they are so it’ll be a little easier than last time. Man it’s been a long time since we did this last!! Do you remember the soaps we did then lol??

Here is the list from back then lol!

David-My Wholly Kaw love affair began with that sampler. The Fougere Bouquet and King of Oud are my two favorites, but I totally agree that they are more fall/winter-ish scents.

And yeah, the post-shave feel from WK croaps is the best I get from any of the many I've tried. And those strong scents tend to linger more, which I like.

That king of oud is an outstandingly odd sent. Bay rum that fell into a barrel of ... man, it’s too unique to describe! And yeah man, the soft afterwards is awesome.

What’s their best summer soap you figure?

I don't know, haven't tried all of them yet, but Jamestown Gentleman and a couple of the others seem lighter and more powdery. If I want a hard-core skin nourishing soap for summer, one of Stirling's eye-watering offerings with both lanolin and menthol would be perfect. I love a good face freeze too!

I too love the King of oud and mayfair. I think MayfIr was my fav in the sample pack. And i agree on the skin feel. Its like someone has soaked your face in creams and lotions. Soft is not a good enough word. MDC give this feel too but not to this extent. Good stuff for sure.

And i love the blind soap test. Cool idea. That would be fun to do with someone. Hope Mark likes it and posts up his findings too.

It really is fun. Mark will post up his findings, that’s half the fun. With respect to the Wholly Kaw, I’ve pretty much said my piece, and I’m glad to hear what i’ve said echoed by you and scouthikerdad. Makes me feel like I might know a thing or two. But not everyone reacts the same way.

When Mark gets to the blind reviews, I’ll give my review right after as well. It was interesting last time in that our takes weren’t always the same.

Either way! The package was sent - I missed the post office so UPS it was.

Yeah, and that's another reason they make great cold-weather creams. Personally, I don't need as much moisturizing in the summer as we're so humid, and my skin doesn't get so dry.

I have far too many soaps but Wholly Kaw is one that I keep going to a couple times a week as I always know that I'll obtain an excellent performance out of them. I have nearly all of the scents. Pompelmo (grapefruit), Noce di Cocco (coconut), Lav Sublime (lavender and lime), Chypre Rose Concerto (lime, bergamot, rose, geranium, lilac, patchouli, cedarwood) are probably what you consider more summer scents. I find the combination of tallow and donkey milk in soaps hard to beat in terms of performance and moisturizing properties.

As far as I know, Edwin Jagger creams are the same as Mühle creams, and the Mühle Sea Buckthorn is still readily available.
