    Default Vetiver fans

Hello fella's... Question for any Vetiver soap users/owners.. I picked up the Stirling Port-Au-Prince Vetiver while ordering some other items.. I did not have any Vetiver supplies in my shave arsenal and it got good reviews.. Upon recieving the first thing is its strong odor and my wife calls it the dirt.. She is not a big fan saying the smell does not mix with any of my aftershaves.. Myself i dont mind the scent, not a favorite but no big deal.. Now the shave i get with this is in my top 5-6 shave soaps i have.. Thick, slick, protects, long lasting lather, leaves my face in fantastic shape after the shave.. Really top notch.. The only thing is i cant seem to put it in a regular rotation and i cant figure out why?.. It only comes out maybe every 3-4 weeks.. When im done i always say i need to use this more but it never happens.. I say the smell is not bad but it is strong, wonder subconsious is at work here telling my brain to pick something different? Anyway do any of you guys like and use a Vetiver style shave soap on a regular rotation or do you use on occasion only?.. Thanks, Scott (SMW)Name: 20190306_225505.jpg

Personally I am not a fan of Vetiver scents, but to each their own. I am only 29 and find that some soaps smell like something at my grandparents house. So I try and stick with either light scents, or scents that blend well with the cologne I'm using. That's my 2 cents on scents, should be implied by this point but YMMV.

I enjoy "Fine", fresh Vetiver soap and aftershave. Use it every couple weeks. I consider the soap to be pushing very near top shelf, quality.

I actually like it better than MdC, or Castle Forbes, TBH

Maybe get some Sweet Patchouli, then she can say it smells like dirt. More like u just grabbed a handful of leaves n moss, off the forest floor beside a rotten log.

I love that smell, and fresh Vetiver.

Thanks for giving me some inspiration, Mike! I have a puck of Fine "Fresh Vetiver" that's been sitting around for a couple of months that I need to inaugurate.

Vetiver is on my list of great scents and my wedding fe also enjoys it. I am away at least half of the year with work so scents my wife does not like and I do become my work soaps. Currently at work I have leather and bay scents. I’m happy we agree on woodsie scents.

That is somewhat funny you mentioned the Patchouli Mike. . I use a Patchouli, Amber, and Oak soap on a regular basis and my wife really likes that one... Go figure..

I agree with Outback about fine pushing top shelf quality.

JP5 has sent me some Patchouli, goats milk soap. Its a bar soap for bathing, but its actually good for shaving, too.

Nice thick creamy lather, great glide, good cushion, feels great on the skin. And the scent stick with ya, a bit. Almost no need for a AS. Got a place I can get essential oils from, locally, plan on making a AS using Patchouli oil and witch hazel.

My first exposure to vetiver was the QED vetiver. It was a straight up vetiver, not a base for other fragrances on top. It was definitely earthy and was almost like wet grass roots. I mean that in a good way. I'm on the hunt for a vetiver. I've got the Fine Green Vetiver, but it's not as vetiver forward as I was hoping. Still a great soap and scent; it's now in permanent rotation. I'll be trying Fine Green in the future.

Based on how much I like the Cyril R. Salter Wild Rose cream, I wonder if they're vetiver is as good. So I'm still on the hunt for a good straight up vetiver.
