    Default Through The Fire

Finally got my samples in from Maggard(between order and ship, they are fast!), USPS was the big delay.

Anyhow, decided to give the opening honors to Bronco and boy, does it impress me. I'm no soap/creme/croap aficionado, so take my report with a grain of salt.

Bronco, as in the original Ford Bronco.

Here's Evan's review at Maggards site:

"Bronco smells exactly how you think it would, the inside of your uncle’s old a*s bronco. leathery, foresty, little twinge of adventure . the soap itself lathers like a dream, is super slick, but not too slick, so you can still pull the skin, and leaves my face feeling like its been on a walk through the backwoods of colorado."

To the smell, I would add its a bit like a vintage leather coach or chair one would find in an old school banker or lawyer's office.

Concur on the lather, though I would say slick, not super slick like uber lather can be. I did make a mistake here and ended up with too much lather. A waste really. I lathered using the Italian method. I had easily enough lather in the brush for a dozen passes.

Ingredients located on the bottom of my sample lid: Stearic acid, Potssium Hydroxide, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Tallow and Vegetable oils, Sodium Hydroxide, Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil, Fragrance, Glycerine

This will soon be added to my currently sparse collection. Through The Fire Fine Crafts has got my attention. Looking at the Bronco AS as well.

    Any others try Bronco?

    Cheers,
    Simon

I haven't tried the Bronco, but I did get a generous sample of their Stingray soap, which has a delightful fresh scent that they describe better than I could:

It's a very good soap, but I probably won't be ordering more anytime soon, as I'm currently sitting on several years' supply at least, and lately have been focusing more on the Wholly Kaw, Noble Otter and Oleo offerings. So many soaps, so little time-lots of great ones I still haven't tried!

I saw this when it 1st came out and wasnt going to post merely on the fact I have bunch of samples and a few tubs also. They are a Michigan company and only about 2 hours north of me right on the way to our hunting pproporty... I've met JT a few times through the years and have about every original labeled sample size but since changing the names not sure which are which.. I have found the quality and especially the right thickness for my self at a good level.. I did find that any that had a reddish or golf darker color seemed to irritate my face a touch.. otherwise I think they are a fine company that's trying to make it in a really crowded field and if you have a desire to to start with the sample or I'm so confident in their full tub of Lindon Barbershop I will highly recommend.. One of the few soaps/creams that I always want on hand..
    Thanks, Scott

I picked up a sample of their Z-28 a while ago. Really like the scent (I'm a fan of citrus) and the sample was very generous. IMO it doesn't lather quite as well as some other soaps or have as much cushion, but a solid choice I enjoy.

I received Z-28 and Stingray last week. Think I'm going to take the Stingray for a drive today.

I've gotta say, the sample sizes are more than generous.

Hmmmm?? Just checked the website out Siguy and I dont recognize one of those..Lol. I am sure some are just renamed.. If interested in a few free samples that I have Siguy give me a PM.. I have a bunch of 1oz plastic/screw top lid containers and would be happy to send you a few.. Adding that when I send out samples to members in the past I've always made sure to use clean soup from a middle of tub as try to be as fresh as I can.. Let me know
    Peace!! Scott

    Very generous of you, Scott.

It does look like they've rename more than a few. Tried StingRay out. Liked it.

The Z28 is very citrusy. It's going to be interesting. I don't really have a comparison to draw against for the citrus types other than TOBs Grapefruit(which I absolutely love). Wait. I have tried Maggard's Lime and Bergemot. Doesn't smell anything like it, though.
