Hello gents,
I almost gave up on an old puck of MWF that had dwindled into a small piece and had dried out and cracked in half. I used a cheese grater and grated it up back into the glass jar it came in. The result almost filled the jar, and it brought it back to it's original glory, (actually better). It now lathers up 10 times easier than it did before. The grater fluffed the soap up into a usable product that will now provide me with many more shaves. I have read about people grating up their soap but never thought much of it until I tried it. I just can't believe how well it worked!

some do grate, and its another tool in the belt. but my MWF is in the same jar and gets all cracked up and looking like I should throw it away, but I put some water on top and swirl away and its back to its old glory. I only grate when I,m reinstalling a puck in a bowl I want it to fit into. or mixing several last little bits together for a frankensoap to give away Tc

One can never go wrong with Mitchell's Wool Fat, whole or grated. I find it really sweet on my ultra sensitive skin. Good stuff.

I cut mine up and kinda jigsawed it into an old spice cup. It looks dry, but still it lathers.

I bought a lone puck of MWF that fit perfectly in an empty soap jar, so I didn't need to grate it. I grate my GM soaps into empty jars since the GM pucks are made to fit a mug. I like the grated soaps... I'm sorely tempted to grate my next MWF puck; it is a true improvement.

Finally got it through my thick head that you have to rehydrate a puck of MWF overnight to make it perform, as many have said. I did that to the remnants of a MWF puck that had been sitting unused for months as it was hit or miss for me to produce consistently good lathers from it. That done, water drained and loaded in my normal fashion I finally got the great lather it is capable of. On second use I did not bloom it and got that great lather again. I think I'll order another puck.

Uncle Zeke used to grate his in the food processor and he would throw in some cucumber or maybe some kale or Rhubarb depending on the season and what strikes his fancy. It worked well for him until Cousin Festus came over and mistook it for a salad and ate it all. But when you got a box of rocks for a brain...well you know.

I'm on my second puck, and yup, when it gets that dry, cracked look, I fill it up with hot water, let it sit while I'm get my razor stropped, scuttled warmed up, and brush picked. By the time I've rinsed my face, the MWF is ready to go and for me, has always been a stellar performer, I'm always amazed at the nice feel my face has afterwards, and how nice my skin feels.

Only soap I'd say for me compares to the after shave feeling is the Osma Shaving soap, Shea Butter, coconut butter, and the infusion of Alum, wow, gives an incredibly close shave as it tightens the skin, and leaves your face tingling from the infusion of Alum, not everyone's cup of tea (can be tough to lather I'm told, but I do the same as with MWF and no problemo).

But these two soaps are the only ones for me, that always leave my face feeling superb, in one case nice and warm, and the other soft and tingling.....:-)

I am just coming up on a week of using MWF every day. I have had issues with MWF in the past being hard to lather. Somehow I have finally learnt to lather MWF well and will say it is jus great for me. As usual, the fault was not with the product but the user. I initially bloomed the virgin puck over night with cold water. Subsequent latherings were with no blooming and using cold water. Yes the puck surface looks like a dried lake bed but it did not seem to matter. So don't give up on MWF because when you do finally get it right you will be well rewarded.
