Thanked: 4Bob, I really appreciate the help you’re providing. Sharptonn, I’m not soaking, I’ve never needed to with my current soaps (DRH) and A local soap from the Isle of Arran. I will be trying soaking to see if that helps, it’s the Puck I’m using.
Take your time and enjoy the shave

No. Do not soak the brush. Newbie mistake takes backbone from the brush and starts you off with way too much water.
Some soak of the puck, drain off water. Begin with dry bristles and dip the tips in water as-needed. A hard-milled puck takes time to create lather.
The Trumpers Limes I have been using a long time is a thick cream or a 'croap' as we sometimes refer to it.
Really easy to make great lather. A hard puck is a different animal. I always treat them like I am trying to use it up!
Take your time and make the lather what it should be before applying. Load the brush with lather, not water."Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

You have to bloom it for about an hour to get a semi half decent lather.
Here was my first efforts using GEO Eucris soap..Total fail.

Thanked: 4Sharptonn, thanks for the continual advice and guidance.
Bob, yeah it’s the puck, hard soaps I have in the DHR range. In fact I’ve used all the creams that I had, now I’m thinking I should go out and buy more to stock up.
So I tried blooming and this gave me much better results, still not quite the lather I was after but blooming the puck whist I carry out my pre shave prep significantly improves the use ability. Still a few more things to try out in pursuit of the perfect lather. I’ll give blooming a go for an extended time period a go next.Take your time and enjoy the shave

You might try snurdling out an almond-sized bit and put it in your bowl to soak in hot water a while.
Then, drain off the water, add a new dab of hot water and build your lather in the bowl.
Works for stubborn soaps.

One of the issues i see is when people use multiple soaps in rotation.
They dry out to much between uses.
I tend to get one and use it until it is done then get another.
Try a quick dump of the excess water but don't dry it and after a week the puck will be much easier to use with the continual tiny bit of water added.
