    Gentlemen,
In the tiered soaps, I have the Geo F Trumper in the basement. This soap is about as worthless as they come. I agree with everyone, this soap doesn’t do anything, no matter what you do. Well, if you have it in the shave den, throw it away and find a better soap. Life is too short. OY!

One thing to learn is soaps are a subjective thing. Some rave about things, but the investment is risky if you do not like it.
Gathering samples is a great way to find out what you like.
Also, tried and true cheap things can be great. In that category, Proraso red and green in the tubs is really good stuff to me yet some prefer the tubes of cream and some simply abhor it. If it seems the more expensive the better it's not necessarily true for you, me, or anyone else unless prestige comes into play.

It seems expensive, but MDC is my high watermark for good stuff. If it works almost as good it's a good lather.
Then there is the scent preference. Some prefer heady scents. I like lighter and a variety. Love me some citrus while some don't. A big love-fest for Tabac on another thread. I cannot get it past my nose. Just me.

Samples can be had in a variety pack. Good thing to get. I have been milking a generous sample of a discontinued soap, AS and balm I feel is really fine in the scent category (Which it should be!) that has great performance for me. After much searching, I have located the soap, big AS, and large balm NOS and sealed.
Knowing I love using the stuff, the ridiculous investment (even at half-price) will be worth it for years to come as I rotate my soaps to my mood.

So. My BEST advise is to try MDC original. It's expensive and lasts for ever, it seems.
    But then, that's me..

I have some MDC original which is probably almost five years old and used in rotation. It has definitely lost some of it's potency but still smells good and works great.

    Good evening gentlemen,

I’ve been persistent with this soap since purchase. I can say out of a significant amount of shaves I’ve only had a good lather twice, the first was the when I tried some of the suggestions offered by members in this thread, and the second was only the other day when I decided to try using a lathering bowl (well actually it is an old soap container that I had used and finished with so I thought why not give it a go), I bloomed my puck and then transferred the initial lather and went back and forth until I started concentrating on the lather bowl and actually aside from being a little extra work and cleaning it came out relatively well and I had a good shave.

Leading on from this then, I’m going to look at purchasing a proper lather bowl, noting fancy, just cheap and cheerful so I can happily use my saop, will I buy more when this one is done? I don’t think so, I’ll be taking the advice of Obie and leaving it alone, as I said in my OP I have soaps that significantly out preform Geo F Trumper and although some may believe this is a great soap it just isn’t for me. Like Sharptonn said, you like what you like and it’s all subjective, cheap can be good as can expensive soaps.

Gentlemen, thank you once again, I’m ever appreciative of your thoughts and input.

    Keep enjoying the shave!
