Thanked: 1587Lubricity? You can't Handle the Lubricity!!
I'm not quite sure how to say this, so I'll just come straight out with it and not beat around the bush. I hope no-one finds it offensive.
I have been thinking recently about shaving cream and lubricity - the more lubricious, the better the shave, other things being equal, right?
So, today I added a couple of squeezes of water-based personal lubricant to my lather as I mixed it up.
Well. I had one of the smoothest shaves I've had in quite some time, no joke. It's only a one-off trial at the moment, so I may be kidding myself. But I intend to keep experimenting with it and will report my findings.

Ok I'm trying not to think of this but it will not leave me alone...
I don't think I could tell a bunch of nuts that I smear KY on my face... and live to tell the tail...

Thanked: 1587Yeah - I guess it is a bit dodgy
To make myself feel a bit better about it, I went on a scientific exploration - one of the main ingredients in personal lubricant is glycerin. So, nothing earth-shattering there after all

James, a true Aussie through and through. No sense of shame!
BTW, Coral Skin Food has glycerin which also makes it a good pre-shave. You could have tried that instead. Still, just as long as you didn't use KY as a post-shave.

Thanked: 1587LOL!! Actually, I do have a sense of shame, just no sense of propriety!
I'm thinking of starting a series of posts: "Slightly Inappropriate Shaving Additives".
Look out for next week's installment - "Burn Relief? You Can't Handle the Burn Relief!!: Alum Blocks and Preparation H".

wow... i wonder though, most of them are water based... so, i would assume it would require less water, and considering the fact that they tend to "wear out" after a while... (its designed to stay in place only long enough for natural... "lube"... to kick in) im actually shocked it lasted enough to shave with...
have you tried shaving with just the KY? might be an expensive way to do it... but considering its safeness for the skin, and its highly lubricative qualities... im pretty sure you should be able to get one hell of a shave out of it... just apply a thick layer, and dont work it in much... maybe even an undercoating?

Thanked: 1587Well, you see, I added the lubricant to my regular water and lather mix - so presumably the lubricant dissolved into the lather and water, releasing it's glycerin into the solution So, I'm guessing that's why nothing "dried up", so to speak.
Your thoughts are exactly the ones I had - if it's good enough for "down there", it's gotta be good enough for your face... I also thought that it might be a useful way to use any lubricant you had lying around, particularly for the married men out there who have no other use for it anymore (small joke!)
