I appreciate the discussion, and am a little perplexed at why some folks are a little ornery. I'm often on the road in strange places, occasionally overnighting in places I didn't anticipate, and sometimes my kit gets a little scattered. I also have to have a freshly shaven face professionally (military). So knowing what works and what doesn't is always helpful.

I've had to shave before using the hand soap green crap in public bathrooms before... even had to shave with just water and a junky razor. My go bag always includes a small tube of shaving lotion now... but I never thought of conditioner. Nice post.

I will take the hint from the representative of this group but I don't know why I should visit the Faroe Islands.

    Gentlemen,

In Vietnam, when I had no shaving cream, I used water. Now and then a few smears of spit here and there helped preserve the canteen water.

Now I use the best shaving cream I can get. Because I can.

If the gentleman wants to use hair conditioner for shaving cream, he has every right. Beyond that, I don’t feel there is anything else to say about the subject.

So now that I have spread some of my wisdom, I think I’ll find something better to think about.

OP here. Wow, it never ceases to amaze me how an argument can develop on a forum over absolutely nothing. I posted a rather goofy video about trying to shave with hair conditioner. I never argued that anyone should throw away their shaving soap or start shaving full time with hair conditioner. I had someone comment on another of my shaving videos that he was stuck with no shaving cream, tried what he had, conditioner, and it worked well for him, so I thought I'd try it out. Nothing to argue about here. Be happy.
