Never would've thought hair conditioner would make a decent shaving cream!
But it actually does! Check out the lather!

Thanked: 56My girlfriend uses it on her legs. But with a cartridge razor and no lather. I bet it is really slick, but not sure I'd like the feel of it on my face.
If you're wondering I'm probably being sarcastic.

I use regular, plain ol,' whatever the wife has in the shower hair conditioner as a pre-shave.

Well, if you be looking for things that lather you can steam up some milk and beat some egg whites and take some baking soda and add it to some hot anything. heck all you need is some motor oil for the ultimate in slick. Who needs lather?
You can buy the proper item for very little. Why is this guy wasting bandwidth? No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 49I have used in a pinch. And yes it works fine. Once I tried dial hand bar soap (2 for a.buck at dollar store) yup it worked. I've shaved water only too. But I prefer my boar brush and some nice lather.

I don't bother with pre shave anything.
i wash or shower, lather up with one of my shaving soaps and have at it.
After I'm smooth I use post shave balm in the same flavour as the soap I chose and also the matching beard oil in my little goat n stache so I don't end up with dandruff down the front of my shirt.
I love to stick with the theme when I shave and I can't imagine why I would want to invent shaving stuff cos soap etc doesn't have to be expensive if a person doesn't want it to be.- - Steve

Thanked: 292Back before I started wet shaving, I usually shaved in the shower using either shampoo and/or conditioner as my lubricant and a cartridge razor. When traveling, which was several times a month before I retired, I used whatever product was available in the hotel. I got a decent shave, but not great.
Now that I wet shave using high quality shaving soaps and a variety of straight razors and safety razors, I still find that using shampoo and conditioner on my face while showering is a great pre-shave routine.

Yep lots of things work, but why? We are a wet shaving community that likes the proper products, so there that is, and Tim his point which was pretty obvious ( to most ) was we already know you can use lots of stuff, and from his post count after all these years it’s really just a fly by
