Only on the occasional nick. Usually if I try and shave with a DE.

Alum is best used to stop localized bleeding, i.e. a small nick. I wouldn't recommend using it on the whole shaved area!

I use mine daily after splashing with cool water. It gives a great finish and I just splash on my aftershave without my knees buckling.

I use it when ever I remember it tightens up the skin.

I haven't used it after a straight, as I just ordered one. But having used an alum block after shaving with a safety or even a machine, I noticed it deterred ingrown hairs by at-least 90 percent for me.

    Stung too.
