    Default TGQ is freakin' sweet

While I do battle with my razor's edge, I decided to at least practice shaving with the hot towel and brush, as I've always used canned stuff and recently just water in the shower. I tried once with the Wm. Marvey puck that comes with Tony's starter set. Really thin lather, dried almost instantly.

I know that there's probably a lot of technique I screwed up and I shouldn't immediately blame the soap, but F it - the point of this is to have fun and enjoy. And I sure as hell would have more fun with a nice wooden shaving bowl and a couple of high quality soaps. So I ordered TGQ's blonde bowl, a cake of Lavendar and a cake of Leatherneck. (Polar opposites, there.)

Instant 200% improvement. (I measured very carefully. :P) I got a nice lather that didn't dry out on my first try. Plus, the smell is relaxing as hell. My girlfriend laughed when she smelled the Wm. Marvey because she says I smell like Vanilla ice cream! I really look forward to using this with an actual straight.

    Hi Josh,
I use TGQ dark wooden bowl and right now the black cavendish - the soap is really forgiving and has a great lubricating quality. These really are top notch soaps!

Glad to hear you're enjoying your time wetshaving - just wait, it gets even better!

A good soap or cream really makes a difference in your shave. Kiss my Face is very good and very reasonable in price. I recently discovered Floris creams and it is at the top of my list.

I've enjoyed the TGQ creams very much, but found they lather more readily for me on my face rather than the scuttle. The lavender has an awesome scent to go along with the performance.
