Leaning away from William's -- what's a good soap?
I've been using William's since I started shaving with a straight (about 6 weeks ago). However, I think I'm beginning to get fed up with William's soap continually drying out during my shaves lol. It's gotten to the point where I will be shaving, and the lather will dry and almost be PEELED off of my face, and leaves remenents on my razor I have to pull off.
Any idea of some good soaps that I can use that may be purchased at a nearby drug store/convenience store?

I have really falling in love with THIS STUFF. The lather is great, and from what I can tell the tube is gonna last me forever.
Try it out, its cheap and it works.

Anything from Mama Bear or The Gentlemen’s Quarter. I have had no reason to go elsewhere and both ladies are a joy to deal with. If you can’t find a fragrance you like, it is not made. Rich microfoam lather that is slick as all getout.

^^ I've not tried Mama Bear's yet, but Coleen's soap is fantastic!
William's has been one of my favorites so far, and I've not had too many problems w/ it drying out. Maybe just needs a bit more water?

Thanked: 335Wind,
I'm just a bit worried about the Bigelow stuff not being tested on animals as that would make us the guinea pigs. Oink

Thanked: 44+1000 on the mama bear and the gentleman's quarter soaps. Also I like the Body Shop Cream, Truefitt and Hill, Proraso, Caswell-Masey, Art of Shaving, Crabtree and Evelyn, and a few others but that should give a good start.
I would say though that you should start with out very own home grown soap mistresses!

I'd go with TGQ. Colleen makes the best soaps I've ever tried and I've tried quite a few.

Honeybee Spa Soap is highly recommended. Wonderful scents, great lather, very moisturizing, and inexpensive.
