IIRC my wife recently mentioned that she heard Burt's Bees was purchased by the Clorox Corporation. That could have something to do with certain BB discontinued products?

The Burt's Bees Bay Rum shave soap smells awesome but the lather is horrible. I don't think it is a glycerin soap and not even sure if it is double milled. I have a complete review for some products I bought a while back. Hope this helps.

The BB shave cream is not to be used with water. It is more of a burma shave type of thing, orsort of like shave gel which doesn't foam. I had a tube and gave it to a buddy of mine who used it to shave his head....he really liked it for that use.

The shave balm is kinda greasy, but does well in the winter months. Burt's Bees has reformulated some of their stuff to me more manly, and the new stuff is pretty good, just not the shave cream. I wish it was like proraso, but it isn't.

Default dont try and make a lather!

Wish I read the reviews before I purchased this stuff. It was the only shave cream at the drug store when I was out looking for a shave cream, got home and tried to lather it up. A slimy watery mess is all you get. If you rub it on with your hand you can at least get some on your face. I was in a hurry so just use a march 3 razor and it worked good for that. I was not in the mood to try it with my straight, may be able to do it but I am too much of a rookie to try it myself. Don't waste you money.

Yeah Crom, not very good reviews about this one. I am surprised the this was the only shaving cream they had, you mean without the can, right? The funny thing is that some of Burt's Bee's products are great... ;-)

    Default only cream

You are right they had the standard full shelf of the can stuff. I live in a small upstate ny town, you are lucky to find any soaps or creams. I have read more about shaving in the last 2 weeks than I have in 40 years. It strange how such a boring (so call chore) has gotten me so interested. I love this web site btw. I have log in every day for the last 2 weeks since I have started straight razor shaving. I hope to get this down pat in the next few weeks. It hard to remember being a rookie at shaving when I have been doing it for over 30 years.

The way to use Burt's Bees shave cream and soap is to use them together. Put an dollup (about almond size) of the shave cream on the soap, add water and wipe up your lather. This will make a good lather that lasts better. Try it out and see what you think.
