I guess this kind of answers my question on why it burns my face to the point where it's very red. I use the classic shaving soap in Almond sent. Does anyone know what the active ingredient is in there that causes it to burn? I also have a Sandlewood sent that I'm going to try before I give up on this brand. I also have the same problem with the soap drying on one side of my face before I'm done shaving the other side.

I load my brush off the puck and make the lather in a separate mug. I get an okay lather from CS soaps, but not as good as Tabac, MWF, DR Harris, or GFT soaps. I don't like CS soaps because of the burning / itching feeling. I have citrus spice, lime, lilac, and sandalwood, but haven't tried the sandalwood yet. The burn feels worse with the citrus spice and lime than the lilac.

I ordered the soap that comes in the dark wood bowl. I went with the lavender, it didn't burn me. I haven't used it with a straight yet, but I did find it more finicky than my Prorasso. I face lathered, and it did tend to disappear before I could get to the other side. I just lathered up again, but it would be nice not to have to.

It's not a good product. It's better than it used to be, in that slightly fewer people are allergic to it nowadays, but it's still not a good soap by any stretch of the imagination.

    Default for the bowl

In my opinion, if for some reason you want to try it. Buy the combo with the bowl. It's real wood, and is well-made. Use it for other, better soaps. Very good deal for a nice bowl.

    Default solution

Since I have an entire puck of this stuff, I decided to see how well it would do if I mixed it with my ProRasso. I put half an almond size amount of my ProRasso in my mug and then half an almond amount of the Classic stuff. I mixed with my brush and I got a very nice lather. A good solution for getting rid of the Classic and saving my ProRasso.

I used their Bay Rum scent and enjoyed it. It never gave me any burning, and I always got a good lather. I used that puck until it ran out, and then tried Colleen's and Mama Bear's (both amazing), but Classic worked for me.

That's the best way to get a great lather with that soap. It's a great solution to your Mitchell Wool Fat lathering problems too, should you ever decide to try that one...

i have bought the classic menthol sent (smells like toothpaste) and it has a mild itch around the edges of my face. it is the first soap i ever used and thought it was normal because most face products are weird with me. but i was able to make a good lather by first giving a good swirl in the mug than lathering it up on my face. since i am new to it i lather my whole face lightly first and reapply to each section that i am going to shave because i go slow . now i must try a real brand soap to get the full feeling of a good lather..

all in all it is a decent soap from a noobies point of view.
