you nailed it - it's a unique combo of slick, cushion and close shave. I think of TABAC as the King of Disco, not the King. They should just call it "Danny Terio Soap."

I tried Czech & Speake 88 last night for the first time - it was a real slick, cushionging tallow soap with a nice rosy scent.

    Hey Loudee,

You had mentioned in your other post about IK being perhaps the best soap for straight shaving. It is reknown for softening skin. How does that stack up for cushion, etc?

I guess I am going to have to break down and try the Tabac soap...
Just what I need more soaps....

I very rarely use just soap or just cream... but one soap that stands out pretty darn good on it's own, besides MWF of course, is the Velobra soft soap....

Yeah, I have the Valobra soft soap, and I sliced up a Valobra shave stick, and put it in with the soft soap, so I have a Valobra hybrid, as the stick is tallow based, so I wanted some of that going on in there....

IK is totally different that TABAC, but equaly good.

IK for me makes my face feel softer than tabac. I think tabac has more artificial stuff in it, and the IK has a ton of shea butter.

On lather, TABAC is MUCH creamier, more slick. The IK lather is pretty slick (but not tabac slick) and thin. But even though it's thinner, I find it very cushioning, but just in a less "in your face" kind of way (no pun intended). But both, though they get there different ways, give a protective, close shave.

And the C&S 88 lather? Thick and creamy, or thin, yet effective?

Colleen's creams from TGQ are very nice, too.

Btw. you just made me order a tube of Tabac just to compare them!

Tube or tub? I've heard the Tabac cream is not as good as the soap.

Yeah, the cream is nothing all that special, compared to the soap. But I did have a sample of the Tabac cream for a while, and I was using Tabac&Tabac superlather, and it was very, very nice!
