Thanks to all who responed. I guess we all have our one soap/cream that gives us trouble. I did purchase a 3 oz puck of CB and one of her bowls. I'll give it another shot.
I love shave creams, but I also like the feedback I get from a good soap too.

I love Colleen's soaps! I use "Leatherneck" almost exclusively as a hard soap, and CF for cream. I've yet to use any of her creams, but hear only good things. As for the bowl, I ordered one with my last puck of "Leatherneck" and while they are beautifully made, I don't think it's deep enough. The soap comes all the way to the rim and there's no room to build up a good lather without spilling over onto your hands. I've since moved my soap puck into a LARGE coffee mug that I picked up while in Germany and it works wonderfully. Colleen definitely has my business as far as soaps go!!

    Mike and Mike,
Which of her bowls did you buy- the $7 or the $14? Just curious what the difference is and if there's more room to build in one vs the other.

    Good Morning Gentlemen,

I was having my cup'a joe when I stumbled across this wonderful thread this morning. I thought the comments regarding the sample sizes were "very interesting" and I'll tell ya why.

"Keep in mind the larger quantity melted, the clays, and the butters". Clay sinks and so does butter because of the density. When pouring into a larger 3 oz. mold you have a greater surface area and a more even distribution of everything "sinking".

Now, I have ALWAYS wondered and worried about the 1 oz. sizes, because they are poured into a "tube".......smaller surface area, clay and butter sinking. Which has always left me wondering what happens to the soap at the top of the tube, vs the soap at the bottom of the tube, and quite frankly the soap in the middle..

Because really, there should be no difference in the 1 oz. vs the 3 oz. because it's all the same soap, but if the clay and butter doesn't distribute the same, therein lay the difference. I will tell you that the soap poured into the the tube is cooled right away to try to slow the sinking effect, but from your comments I can see this "isn't" working well enough.

How can I do this differently

Advice, questions, comments, suggestions, and constructive critiques are always welcome.

For what it's worth, I have only tried one, a sample sized lavender soap another member sent me along with a razor, and it lathered pretty well.

I got a TGQ sampler pack and it totally left me flat. I got perfectly fine lather, and it's fine, but for me QED is much better and I like HBS and MB better as well.

So I'm in the minority for sure on not liking the TGQ, but if you aren't getting good results you aren't alone.

I do think which soap and cream you like is very subjective, and it's also true that I've gone back to products I didn't like half a year later, and for whatever reason, I figured them out later. So I"m hoping that happens with me on TGQ.

For me TGQ soaps are some of the best preforming I have very slick and easy to lather and the scents seem to be more noticeable to me then some of the other soaps I got.

Just a suggestion I couldn't get MWF to lather worth a damm in a bowl even after multiple attempts and various brushes from stiff to scracthy to soft but I tried face lathering with it and it works fine.

Any of you guys want to send me the MWF, Please do. I find the lather to be thick, lubricating and has staying power, plus, it smells pretty darn good. I do have a water softner though, which is another reason why i couldn't figure out the TGQ problem?
Oh Well, When the 3oz puck of CB arrives with the bowl, I'm sure I'll be happy!
