    Default AOS bought by P&G

I understand that Art of Shaving was purchased by Proctor & Gamble. If they keep with their history, my fear is that they will begin to decline in quality, i.e. goodby tallow.

Isn't that the same company that bought Gillette?

Yes. P&G owns half of the consumer brands we all use. Gillette, Charmin, Old Spice etc etc. Probably own TIDE too and things like that. But seriously half the consumer goods in your house are probably P&G products.

They tend to do very quality stuff (the M3 is what it is, but it's quality). My inclination is not to be alarmed by this. They already have a partnership with AOS of some sort - see the Fushion with a Flashlight they sell at AOS stores. My guess would be this will be P&G's high end shaving range, and they wouldn't bother buying it if they were just going to blend the AOS products in with their canned shaving cream aerosol lines. I also don't think tallow is any more expensive than palm oil. Only question is whether they decide to use someone other than Valobra to make the soaps, in which case it might go to a different non-tallow formula just for that reason, but I don't think that's in any way inevitable.

It's also encouraging that a multinational has decided to that the demand for high end shaving equipments is sufficient to enter to the fray. They may actually draw in more people this addicition. And if we are really lucky, they'll get sick of selling TI razors and start mass marketing US made P&G straight razors. Dare to dream!

I take it back. Just read an article about them dreaming up a line of $150 fushions. And what am I thinking - Gillette will never do straight razors - the whole company was built on a model of selling cheap hardware with expensive replaceable blades! At least there may be an inventory sale looming on those nice looking TI straitghts! I'll have to run over to the store near my office and buy a back up puck of soap or two.

    AAAHHHH!

AOS Sandlewood and Lavender are two of my favorite soaps. This is terrible news. I've heard horror stories on the straights that come from them, no personal experience with it.

The last time I looked at their soaps only the unscented was tallow based. The others are all palm based now.

I just picked up a Lemon and the first ingredient was Sodium Tallowate, I've not seen any that are without tallow yet, but this is disturbing news, time to hoard!

Might be the difference between new stock and old stock then. I checked every puck and other than unscented it was all palm in this particular store. Thus why I did not buy any. I guess I will have to check out the other resellers before it's too late.

If anybody runs into this issue that Dustin has, I've got a small apothecary here that stocks all the AOS stuff, including the Rose Hydrosol, which, if you haven't tried it straight out of the freezer, your missing something nice!

She does ship so if you need the address, let me know and I'll provide along with her website.
