Thanked: 953SRD Bulgarian Rose Shaving Soap
Just got mine! Test run first thing in the morning.
I ordered a gallon or so of bulgarian rose otto rose water a couple of years ago, and the scent of this soap is a 100% direct hit on that scent, so this is pure of the pure on the bulgarian rose eo, and I'm very excited a soap maker stepped up and embarked on this ambitious project of a pure rose eo shaving soap, which others have failed to do. Can't wait to try it but the scent is EXACTLY what I was expecting having experienced bulgarian rose eo before in a rose water/hydrosol form, and the stuff I used before both grew increasingly appealing to me as I used it, and was just great for the face (and had a nice aromatherapy effect using it in the morning).

Looks like everyone got theirs already, I'm still waiting. When I opened the mailbox this afternoon, my heart stopped. I swear someone was watching me and played this tune:

Thanked: 953I used this rose soap this morning. This stuff is great. Lathers really nice, nice close shave, aroma therapy bath while shaving. exactly what I was hoping for.

I checked my paypal account and the mailman did deliver it yesterday, it was that it was delivered after he realized that he didn't put it in my mailbox after the initial mail delivery Checked the mailbox today and voila! I was a little surprised by the scent but I understand what Dave meant by it "opening up" after a little time. I immediately hopped in the shower and shaved. It lathers really well. I have a little less irritation than I do with the AOS lemon that I've been using for the last six months. Great buy! I think I went overboard by buying 5 dishes, though.

+1 on the lather, it is outstanding for a soap.
We have assumed control !

Arived on Saturday & shaved that night. The lather is phenomenal & the scent is heavenly. I paired it with SCS Savory Rose ASM. All the wife could talk about was how good it smelled in the hallway around the bathroom. It was so nice I even added an extra pass during the shave. Can't wait to do it all over again!

Thanked: 735Dammitall, Loudee.....I really have to stop reading your posts here...
How would you compare this to the C&S 88? I've found myself browsing the Cambridge Chemist website for the last few days, closing in on that soap, but now this.....
Any other info on the soap you can share? Ingredients of note, etc?
EDIT: Aha, I found this info:http://straightrazorpalace.com/srp-o...ving-soap.htmlLast edited by Seraphim; 07-14-2009 at 12:24 PM.

Thanked: 953This is a totally different animal than C&S 88. Both awesome. I'd get the SRD because it's unique and a limited run - oh, bologne, I'd get BOTH. In fact I did.
SRD Bulgarian rose - real rose EO in a great glycerine soap base. if you are in whole foods, whiff the bulgarian rose EO - that's what this smells like, but this has tons of rose eo and the whole foods dropper of rose eo is mostly jojoba oil.
So differences:
1. scent: SRD is single note pure genuine bulgarian rose otto EO. C&S 88 is rose inspired fragrance, and a powdery fake sweet rose at that. both very very nice but the SRD is real rose eo and an aromatherapy heaven.
2. performance: great glycerine soap vs. great tallow hard milled soap. it's like QED vs. AOS. glycerine soaps lube great, protect a little less, cut wicked close. This is as good as any glycerine soap I've tried (QED, HBS, MB etc.)
3. durability - the SRD won't last nearly as long - it's a glycerine soap.
But you gotta get the srd rose. I tried to do a QED rose eo group buy at B&B two years ago and it fell apart because Charles said he couldn't keep it under $65 a pot since the rose eo was spiking. This is the exact same idea as what I was trying to do for $40, and it's exactly what I was dreaming about. Grab it, and grab some Art of Shaving rose hydrosol as a nice AS to complement, and exult in the roses.

Slightly OT....I love this soap (scent AND performance). Does anyone with it have other SRD soaps? How does the performance compare?
I have a feeling the EO helps this soap....how are the others? Anyone?
THANKS!
