    Default Bulgarian Rose Shaving Soap

I received a couple of tubs of SRD's Bulgarian Rose shaving soap and love the scent. I'd like to get it out of the tub and into a shaving mug but like most glycerine based shaving soaps, it's stuck to the plastic tub. Does anyone have a sure-fire way to do this, at $50.00 a tub I don't want to ruin a tub of this lovely scented shaving soap...

I don't know if I'd chance it with something that expensive, but a couple 15 second bursts in the microwave will melt it and you can pour it into your favorite mug.

If you don't want to go that route, but still want to attempt getting it out, maybe a grapefruit knife can get it out cleanly by going alongside the container it's in now.

Mama Bear suggested that I freeze it overnight and knock the puck out tomorrow morning. I'm going to try that...

    Default OMG what a shave!!!

I just shaved with the Bulgarian Rose soap, my Goodfella razor with a Gillette Swede blade and what a shave, the closest I have experienced and no irritation. Now, don't be offended SRP brethern, that I used a DE but it's my standard test. The soap lathers up easily into a rich, creamy lather which is totally devoid of any slimy feel. I lathered it up with my Plisson #10 in European Grey and finished the lather with my Plisson #10 in HMW. A gorgeous, rich, wonderfully perfumed lather resulted. Man, what a shave. Thanks Lynn and Don for making this wonderful soap available to us. I'd like to hear from any brethern who have shaved with this soap, please share your experiences with us.

Yes O_S, I do this with soaps so as not to abrade the tips on my silvertip badger brushes. I find that it works well...

It is one of the best soaps I've used, and I've used a lot. The lather is wonderful. Bulgarian Rose is prized by many. It has a wonderful scent. I saw a flask of Bulgarian Rose on Ebay for 500,000 dollars U.S. It was from 1910 or something. I use a Rooney Silver tip, super badger. I don't have any problems with the bristles wearing away. That's what it's made for, or am I missing something. Someone please enlighten me.

zib, the wear and tear on a brush is gradual, 20 or 30 years. My father had a silvertip badger brush that had the tips worn off. As a consequence, when I lather up soaps I do it with either a Semogue Boar Bristle brush or my Plisson #10 in European Grey. Once I have a good amount of lather formed I switch to the Silvertip brush of choice to break down the foam cells into very fine bubbles...

You're doing this to mitigate the wear and tear on brush? If so that's great idea I've never thought bout employing that strategy. I don't have any old brush though. That said, for me I've always done "3 finger tip brush dip" as I load brush to prevent it from faning outwards. That works for me /shrug
