Default TGQ soaps and creams arrived

Last week I ordered 2 soaps and 2 creams from TGQ. Leatherneck, Cavendish, Lime Margarita, and Highlander. When I opened the box there was also a small sample of one called cool water, smells pretty good. Leatherneck is a keeper, just don't use it all the time, wife won't leave me alone. Cavendish and lime margarita both will probably be keepers as well, I'm not sure on the highlander yet, it's a bit more flowery than I was thinking, but we'll see.

Cool Water is a Cologne by Davidoff, used to very popular, you either hate or love it.
I'm not a big fan of Colleen's soaps, I tried em, not too crazy about em. Most guys rave about them here. I'm sure you'll like them. I just tried SRD's soaps. I was so impressed by them I posted about it....

I love the scents that Colleen uses, I just find her soaps a bit too temperamental when making lather for my tastes - her creams, however, are absolutely top notch, better than TOBS IMHO. One day when I've run out of my vast stock of creams, I'll be buying some more of hers for sure. Next time you get some samples, make sure to try Desert Ironwood - it's a sweet yet spicy, undeniably masculine scent. I'm a huge fan of it.

Yes, that's it exactly. I have trouble with her Lather, I've heard this before, either guys have trouble making lather, or they get uberlather in 20 passes on the puck. Maybe there's differences between batches. It happend to me 2x, so I never went back. The thing is, I have a water softner to boot. Most soaps lather up very good...So the creams are better, hmmm?
I'll have to give those a go, but I just ordered from Krissy at Prarie Creations. She's selling those Tallow based soaps...It has to be good stuff....I can't wait to use it....

I just picked up Leatherneck Cream and Cologne. The creams are really, really dense with a paste like feel. Kinda a pain to load with the BK4! The lather is great, slick and cushioning. Im pretty sure that she uses tallow which is nice. But I gotta say that every since using Vintage Yardley and MWF regularly creams just arent the same.

She certainly does use tallow, if you read the ingredient list that comes with the order it lists potassium tallowate and sodium tallowate as ingredients.

I know what you mean about the cream texture, mine had separated when I got it so it was a very odd texture indeed. I melted it by sitting it on my radiator, then shook it up after it was melted to mix everything back together, than popped it in my fridge to resolidify, shaking it a couple of times as it cooled - voila, nice firm cream again. I found the easiest way to use her creams is to take a popsicle stick or similar, and scoop out a small chunk (she recommends almond sized, it's something around that), and then just lather it in a mug or bowl. Much easier than trying to load a brush with such a dense cream.
