Thanked: 293I love tallow, I'm not impressed with glycerin. With that in mind, there are lots of great options. Check out the "tallow" thread started by me in this section.
As for SRD's soaps, zib, are those glycerin based? I'll try it on your recommendation either way.
50 bucks for a tub is steep for any soap as far as I'm concerned, though, so I won't be trying the Rose Otto.Last edited by Oglethorpe; 10-09-2009 at 03:42 PM.

They are, but they use "Top Shelf Stuff" I was very impressed with them.
I bought a Bergisher Lowe from them and decided, based on the Rose Otto, to get a few more of their soaps. I got the Lime, and Patchouli. It was a "Lather Explosion" at my house, I will definitely buy them again. Very impressive....Ogie from one Jersey guy to another, Try it, you'll like it....We have assumed control !

Hope this Helps
I have a lot of both and have sampled even more. I judge on 4 areas in any order.....
1. slickness
2. Lather (ease of, and amount)
3. Scent
4. Non irritating. i.e.. over drying, stinging or discomfort from ingredients.
All of these lather easy are slick and smell great!!!
Castle Forbes Lime is by far the best cream out there.
Volobra (almond)
Proraso (cooling)
JM fraiser original (stay away from all the other scents they do not perform the same)
Soaps:
MWF
QED
MaMa bear
Ogalala
Watch out for Lavender EO it lights me up!!! Benzonite Clay seems to irritate also.
These are the best I have found I have tried lots.
These will not fail you.

Oh Lord, you boys would shiver if you knew what I just spent on soaps and creams today...LOL! No regrets though!
I want to thank all of you who responded and gave input. Hopefully the soaps and creams will be arriving throughout the week next week.
Thanks again boys.

One of the members here, Olivia, makes some amazing soap and cream. A superlather of Churchill is nothing short of sublime. I think I recall reading somewhere here that the cream is tallow based. Just two more pennies for the pile
