I find the same thing. Tofu and rice with something green . . . wow. Nothing like feeling good. Lots of energy and happy all the time.

I feel the best with a 1 1/2 inch steak on my plate. I then energetically eat it.

Rich, I'm with you! I just wish we had the culinary selection you enjoy in New York anywhere in east central Alabama. Of course if you count the 15+ distinct variations of barbeque or the dozen or more varieties of chicken fingers, then I guess you could say we have a good selection.

    Ed,

How did a Chicagoan end up in Alabama? Do they even watch baseball down there?

You guys slay me . You forgot the age old question about how can you tell if you're in a small town in Alabama? There are no branches on the family tree.

With regard to the food, I'd actually prefer being in the UK xman. Bangers and mash along with a good porter; fish and chips with a good bitter; head north and just about anything with a good single malt, even haggis . Here you have barbeque, chicken fingers, and fried...well, fried anything.

Baseball still keeps me sane during the summer. WGN still televises most of my Cubbies games, so I've not gone through withdrawl yet. I'm only a couple of hours away from Atlanta, so I head over there when the Cubs head south.

As to how I got here in the first place, this is actually my second stint. I did my Master's degree here at Auburn. Then when my old major prof retired, they called and asked me to apply for the job. Since my wife is from Alabama and still has family here, we decided it would be a good move...sometimes I wonder
