    Default Try something new

I just finished up a wonderful shave with a new cream I got at the local co-op (yes, it's a 'natural foods' store, but they stock great soaps and other stuff). It's called Aubrey Organics Spice Island Shave cream http://cariamici.net/aubrey-organics...eam-p-518.html
It doesn't work with a brush, but you just rub it on and it's got a cooling, soothing feel with lots of lubrication power (and a bay rum scent) and minus the chemicals you can't pronounce. Just thought I'd pass on the info.

p.s. it's vegan, if that's important to anyone

I have tried two "natural" soap products now and am not sure if it is me or the naturl of the item but the lather is really lacking.
My latest try was Burt's Bees Bay Rum Shave Soap. Deep green soap, wonderful, sharp, spicey scent and whips into a nice lather in the mug but once on the face it quickly vanishes. By the time I get to my neck the lather on my cheeks is almost gone.

Anyone else have this with natural products?

That's true Tony, the lather is not thick and rich, but the fragrance is as well as the lubrication. My skin is so constituted that if I use a soap like Col. Conk or Classic brand, I need a preshave (less so with the classic). But with this stuff, I didn't. I have yet to sample all those fine English creams (3 T's) but I have some on order

I did not have this problem with Omega, a natural shave soap from Italy. I picked it up from my local New Seasons and it has a really nice refreshing tingly feeling thanks to the heavy use of Eucalyptus. As long as I spend some time with a brush and hot water to whip up some lather, I get very pleasant results.

Aubreys makes good stuff but often at a good price. their lathers are usually lacking though.

BTW I'm down 10 lbs in my journey to becoming 100% Raw Vegan, so Veganism has some good points .

The natural product I use is the Lush Ambrosia Cream and it's not made to lather AT ALL! Still works great for me. I get to see the entire shave.

I'd love to drop the 10 lbs, but I'm an unabashed carnivore. Love my veggies, but need a slab of meat on occasion. I also enjoy it more when that slab does not come off my own chin

Furthest I've ever been able to go was vegetarian. If they made it easier to obtain vegan food and products at a reasonable price I'd be all over that. In the meantime, I'll keep leaning towards my vegetarian tendencies.

Aye, I've been an avid carnivore the majority of my life. but I find that when I can stick to simple fresh fruits and vegetables I feel much better, my allergies start disapearing, and I'm much more energetic. I seem to slip off the wagon at least once a month and have some beans or other processed vegetarian foods but I'm getting much better at it. I think it won't be too much longer and I'll be able to do raw veganism year round The nice thing about being a raw vegan is that everything you need is in the produce department. If you can't afford to do organic, don't worry about it. just do what you can

But I do it for health reasons, not religious. I'll still use a leather strop on my razor without worry
