L'Occitane Shaving Bowl Problem?
So I am looking at buying the L'Occitane soap and the shaving bowl too, but I have heard from other shaving enthusiast that the bowl is prone to rust/tarnish. I have also heard that L'Occitane was trying to fix this problem. So my questions is has anyone who brought the shaving bowl recently found that their bowl is/isn't having problems with rust or tarnish.

TGQ (Colleen) and Mama Bear (Sue) both sell very nice wooden bowls at great prices. I also purchased a lather bowl from SRD and absolutely love it.

I love the Edwin Jagger black porcelain bowl. I had melted some soap into it, but decided to pry it back out since I loved it so much as a lather bowl. A little pricey, but a stunning piece. If I recall correctly they also make a nickel chrome bowl too for about $15. If it looks anything like the chrome on their new DE razors you won't be let down.

Thanked: 293I've had the L'Occitane bowl for months and have no rust or tarnish. And I never dry it completely before putting it away either...
IMO, you have nothing to worry about.

I like the L'Occitane soap with the bowl, it is a very handsome bowl. This should be a great soap for you. I just want to let you know that the L'Occitane shaving bowl, like others, is intended to contain the soap not for lathering. For this, it is advised that people use a different bowl, a larger one for best results.

Same here, had it now for a while and looks as good as when I purchased it. Worst case scenario it goes under my buffer
I love the soap and scent although it does tend to dry out a bit faster on my face compared to my other soaps. But great stuff.

Thanked: 4I used the Cade soap just yesterday. The bowl is nearly two years old and is neither rusted or tarnished. I would not hesitate to pick one up if I was you.
