I've dabbed aftershave on a q-tip to help with nicks when I first started shaving. So if you're already taking cottonswabs on your trip, maybe that would work?

Not bragging or anything but I have a tube of the liquid styptic and I've never had to use it yet.

Not sure how the price compares but a similar item - which I picked up from my local Giant grocery store when I first started wetshaving 2 months ago (but haven't had to use yet) - are styptic swabs.

They work kind of like chem-lights (you know, the plastic, glow-in-the-dark sticks you pick up at the circus, use in the military, etc.) - you just bend the plastic swab handle a little to crack open the inner styptic chamber, then it flows in the swab, you dab it on, then toss the used swab...

Around $4-6 for a dozen or so if I recall.

Ok I finally found where I had first seen those styptic matches.
A good vendor to order from:
Styptic Matches [OP-CYR-T524] - $2.75 : West Coast Shaving, Double Edge Blade Sampler Packs
And he just got some Alt-Innsbruck in, so if you're looking to give that a try, best to buy from John. I've heard so much about this AS, I kinda wanna try it, but that's a whole other thread

I thought these were the neatest things but I have searched the web high and low and cannot find them.

On the front and back of book it says MINI POCKET then some Italian about single use.

These would be perfect for the travel bag.
I tried to get some of these from our vendor, but he said that they were not used anymore in Italy by barbers due to hygienic resaons. (Don't know why exactly, but that's what he said.)

The brand he had were the same as the alum blocks which I included a picture from. You might find these elsewhere though.

    Good luck

I prefer these "matches" to the alum block and styptic pencil I have.
They can be very cheap on ebay.
