I've been using a mug warmer for quite some time. I use the warmer so much that I keep a back-up for when it eventually craps out. I use it with my lathering bowl, which I use in conjunction with a shaving mug.

We bought a Crock-Pot recently that came with a mini version. I tried it for making lather, and I ended up putting it back in the kitchen

It did keep things warm, but it was too warm. The lather would dry out in between passes, so I had to essentially recreate the lather each time. Hot entirely, but enough to discourage me from using it. I'm glad this is working for you. I would have thought you would have had the same issue.

I ended up going back to my big coffee mug and floating it in the sink. I'm planning to buy a scuttle though. The mug takes up too much room in the sink full of water. I'm worried I'll smack my blade against it when I'm rinsing.

I started using an insulated serving bowl some time ago to fix that problem. I now use a normal shaving mug, but I still rest it in warm water in that insulated bowl:

It does a good job. Just as well, really, since electrical equipment in the bathroom is a no-no over here with our 240V mains electrical supply.

OUCH!!! 240V. Looks interesting. How long does it keep it warm?

No that's just a plain insulated bowl (like a Thermos.) The 240V is why we shouldn't use mains gear in bathrooms here.

Edit> Ah I may have misread your post. In any case my makeshift scuttle works well, the lather doesn't get cold even after 45 minutes or so. I am a slow shaver!
