Default Thumbs down for Trumpers rose shave cream

the only reason I got it was because it came in a sampler set when I ordered the Trumpers Sandlewood.

its gross. smells disgusting. who wants to smell rose when they shave? I'd ask my wife, but she's asleep.

Rose has a long history as a scent for gentleman's shave products. Like all things scented, personal preferences come in to play. I recommend you give it a try as it might grow on you. I like rose products a lot.

I've always been a fan of the jasmine sent, yet I got some jasmine soap a while back and it smelled like stink to me. I'm curious about a rose scent, cause I like rose usually but afraid it might also end up smelling like stink to me.

Toplin, have you actually lathered it up, or are you just smelling the container? I've noticed a few creams (Pre de Provence, Body Shop Maca Root, Proraso, TGQ Bay Rum & Sweet Orange, TOBS Eton College, EJ Sandalwood to name only few) don't smell nice in the tub or tube or don't smell at all, but when lathered smell divine as a lot of other subtleties are released. At least give it a go before you toss it - whip up a lather from it and if you still don't like it, rinse out the lather - simple.

Which is why we do not rate scent in our reviews, cf. http://straightrazorpalace.com/revie...-beberlin.html. You are, of course, entitled to your own, very personal opinion on the subject matter, and all that entails.

This, however, is one of the most inappropriate comments I have read in this forum for quite some time.

Just for the record, Trumpers's "Rose" is a good cream, and if you like rose scented creams (such as Caraceni, IMO still one of the best creams in the entire market), you will probably like it.

Trumpers creams are all very good, and whilst you may not like the scent theres no need to call for a boycott...!

I got the same sample pack and when I used the rose cream the scent mellows a lot. I personally prefer other scents, but that cream is a good one and it gives a great lather.

You should give it a try. You might be surprised how much you like it..!

indeed I did use it. Lathered it up with my Rooney brush, put it on face and shaved.

    and it stunk.

sorry to all if my humor was misplaced. I didn't care for it was all I was saying. I'll keep personal opinions of mine to a more managed level. Boycotting for all because I don't care for something is utterly ridiculous. Hence the humor in a call for an idiotic boycott for everyone depending on what I personally like and dislike. I was sure no one would take such a stupid comment (with a little angry soap box guy, no less) serious, but I guess some folks do.

I'm truly sorry if i offended, it won't happen again

I've said it many times before and will mention it again :-)

The Trumper's Rose is a fantastic scent. I started on the cream and ended up using the very moisturising Rose soap. I still have it to this day and rate the soap very highly.

I am not going to say this is my best soap, I would just rank it somewhere in my top three, probably high enough, all due to its moisturising properties, scent and latherability. I would say the same applies to the cream in my experience, although maybe a little less on the moisturising properties.

Nonetheless, the Rose scent in my opinion is very well received in hot weather. You don't state where you're based, but if as I suspect you're in the northern hemisphere, I would say give the Rose cream another go in the spring and summer and see how it feels then. Of course, various people hate some scents that others like, so it's entirely normal to not like it (remember the old saying "one man's food is another man's poison"?).

All scent is just a personal thing so whether one person or another prefers this or that is no matter really and not worth discussion except of course if your talking about Pinaud Lilac vegetal now thats the worst stuff in the universe right? Har Har.

Really if guys want to talk about scents we should have the rose club and the sandlewood club etc so guys who like a common scent can discuss the finer points of a scent they all like to a degree or another.
