Castle Forbes lime cream is an absolute gem, as is Trumpers Sandalwood.
Both give excellent lather, great cushion and glide and smell wonderful..!
Let us know what you decide.

Thanked: 0Are the creams better then the Soap pucks?
Also which online vendors have the best selection and pricing?
Also the Castle Forbes looks like it wouldnt last that long because of the amount your given. Is this true?Last edited by esp; 01-25-2010 at 10:43 PM.

If closeness is an issue, it's been my experience that the blade used makes a difference. I'm a DE shaver and my favorite shaver is my trusty '60's Gillette Tech ( I have a fondness for the fewest moving parts! ;-) I also use Feather blades. I get a very nice shave in two passes with no burn using either cream or soap. However, using the same soap/cream and the same shaver, if I use Derby blades, I don't get as good a shave. You might try experimenting with blade options as well.
Just a word of caution: If you've never used Feather blades before be careful! You can take off a layer of skin!

There are good soaps and creams. Typically creams give more cushion and soaps more glide during the shave. A good shaving product should provide both as well as sufficient skin conditioning and help beard prep.
Regarding Castle forbes, it is quite the opposite you use very little of the cream to create your lather so it is very economical as most high end products are in the end.

Thanked: 326Return of the Atom Bomb
Clockwise from top left:
Bayrum, Lime followed by Al's bayrum aftershave
Samples: Almond, Lavender and Vetiver
The brush I use will vary from time to time but for sake of review I'll compare Al's to rest with Omega #21047.
Packaging:
Comes with amber-like jar with plastic sealant to maintain cream's freshness.
Texture:
It's definitely dense. I wouldn't say it's very soft it probably falls in between soap and cream.
Latherability:
Absolutely wonderful! I hate my water but that's beside the point. It takes about a little over 3 minutes to create the "whip-cream". It definitely holds up. It's not effervescent and won't leave your face.
Cushion:
I don't even feel like I'm shaving. No BS! I sometimes have to stop to make sure the blade is really touching my face!
Moisturising:
Hands down marvelous! I've been using this for sometime now and I'll never forget the first experience and current which is it leaves your face nice and soft like one of those exotic $1000 pillow. It doesn't leave your face greasy-like to point you've to wipe your face. My face seems as though you've doused it with splash of fountain of youth formula. There is no drying or flaking of the sort. Top notch!
Overall impression:
Great cream thus far. I'm going to have to try more soaps/creams before submitting this in review section so as to have fair assessment.
To me this is like going from my modified honda to having a Subaru STi. It has the performance and Symmetrical AWD. In this case, the Atom Bomb has it all: from lathering, moisturizers, cushioning and beautiful aroma.
This has left my face smooth for well over 15hrs. I'm sure if I stayed past that no doubt it would be gone beyond 24hr period.
Very impressed with Al's atom Bomb. Further, he has great follow-up with his clientele. He checks up on you to see as to whether or not you've any questions or concerns.
If you haven't tried it, you are missing out.
Please be aware my water is hard.
The pictures don't do these creams justice because I either didn't have enough water or was simply in rush to take pictures. At least you've a general idea as to how they lather in general

Thanked: 326The Bomb, Dense, bayrumCO Bigelow is ok but it lacks moisturizers and cushioning as such one has to apply more lather and using more cream than you would compared to the Bomb.

What Are My Other Options for Shave Creams
Hello, esp:
Many are fine recommendations in these posts. I will go along with Castle Forbes and Penhaligon's "Blenheim Bouquet." Add to that Truefitt & Hill's unscented. Geo F. Trumper's rose is quite nice, too.
The joy of traditional shaving is, in part, in the exploration of shave soaps and creams, and a mountain of delights awaits you. Enjoy.

Obie

Thanked: 0I think I'm going to try Geo F. Trumpers Rose Shaving Cream after that I will get the Castle Forbes lime cream.
Can you guys suggest any online vendors? I checked SRD but they don't carry those brands.

Shave Cream Options
Hello again, esp:
Let me add another shave cream I like: Pre de Province. It has a pleasant fragrance, gives you good lather and a comfortable cushion.
The choices you already have made are good ones.
Scores of vendors offer almost everything you need. Type in the product you want and a big list of vendors will show up.
Enjoy.
