Thread: Cavendish Black.. Irritant?

I'm sitting here with my nose buried in my soap dish that has leatherneck in it and the best description that I can come up with is a spicy smooth scent. It doesn't overwhelm but you definitely know it's there.
I'm fairly poor at describing scents so perhaps others want to weigh in here. Regardless, I really like the scent, but I don't exactly agree with the visions of a marine in his uniform as an accurate description.

Thanked: 530Here's another slew of questions... I know I prefer CB in soap, but with Leatherneck, is it better as a Soap or a cream... Also, Savon de Comte/Savon de Campagne, which is better (That's the soap, or the cream variation of the same thing) and, lastly, Highlander, soap, cream, either, what's the dominate smell of Highlander?
Thanks, guys

Can't speak about the creams of those soaps in question, but the highlander is refreshing, like a spring meadow filled with heather and surrounded by a pine wood. I like it too. Colleen has a great nose. Don't pass up trying the CB at some point. It's a man's scent. I'm disappointed I can't truly enjoy it, myself.

Thanked: 13The leather neck is a very warmth, lingering leather scent. I have the cream and the cologne. Id say I like them together when Im feeling extra gentlemanly and its a bit cold outside.
No issues with the scents bothering me. Ive had the issue with a couple samples, but not often. I feel TGQ offers a notch up in quality over most of the "artisan" products.
Lastly, the creams are a beast all their own. They contain a decent amount of tallow, and have wonderful cushion with matching slickness. However, they dont lather much. What lather you do get is very dense, but very close to the skin.

Thanked: 530The only experience I've had of cream vs. soap was a sample of CB cream and soap, and I loved the scent and lather of the soap more than the cream... smelled better... I'm wondering if that happens with the others too...
I dunno

Thanked: 530I think I've solved my problem... I'm oddly OCD in that I need to keep my purchases balanced, same amount of soap to cream (Buy one soap, have to get a cream, or vice versa)
So, I added Leatherneck Soap, and Desert Ironwood cream. I've heard good things about DI, worth trying.
That balances everythign out.

I've used Cavendish Black for over a year and never had any issues with it. I have used Leatherneck but the scent didn't appeal to me so I stopped. However, there was no issues with performance, just scent.
