Thanked: 2259If for some reason, I could only choose one soap to stay with for the rest of my life, my choice would be clear and I wouldn't hesitate... It would clearly be Mitchell's Wool Fat!
I like everything about it!

Well do not buy the dish at first. Get the refill and keep MWF in a plastic
kitchen storage container. I did exactly that and two months later bought
more MWF with the cool dish. Of interest MWF like Tabac is a big old puck
of soap and does not fit in a lot of generic shave soap dishes.
If you are on a budget skip the expensive wood or ceramic bowel
and try the refill first. If you love the soap then get the cool bowel.
Here is MWF in an 8oz cottage cheese container.
The containers stack well and MWF fits nicely...
The box is from the cool ceramic bowel
and the puck of soap in the pix was the one in the
cool bowl that now has the puck that
once was in a plastic container.
To me it makes dollars and cents
to audition the soap first not the container...Last edited by niftyshaving; 05-09-2010 at 10:59 PM.

Thanked: 1936I've narrowed down my favorite soaps to MWF, Proraso, & Tabac. I've still got several others in my rotation, but they are my favorites by far. I bought the puck on my mwf, but when I start to run low, I'll probably go ahead and jump in deeper and get the bowl too.

It's hard to not love the wooly fat. It was my first soap, and still my favorite. Its got a great scent, and the lanolin in the soap leaves my skin feeling great after a shave - better than others I've tried so far. Instead of buying the ceramic container, I just bought the refill puck and keep it in an old milk glass container.
Cheers,
Larry

I like MWF, though I do agree that it seems to be a bit more water sensitive than some of the other soaps I have.
Great stuff though, and a great lather!

Ryan,
The trick with MWF seems to be:
1) Use cold water to make the lather.
2) After charging the brush, add the water literally a few drops at a time.
I tried this yesterday, and for the first time got a really excellent lather from the MWF; it really surprised me how little water it took to build the lather
(We have very hard water in out area)
have fun !
best regards
Russ

MWF was the first shave soap that I tried out. I like the fact that the scent is not over-powering. I liked the positive reviews it was given on this forum. When it runs out, I may buy the dish and soap combo too.
