Thanked: 195I like MWF very much, but always use it with a cream so I can get some scent from it. I haven't tried it with Musgo Real, but will put it on my list. I really like it with Proraso shaving cream. You may not have heard, but Houston is very hot and humid in the summer, so the menthol in Proraso is a welcome addition to any shaving setup during Houston summers.
Regards,
Mark

I've been using TGQ's stuff for a few years and this MWF is the next step I took due to reviews posted here.
Is it me or am I using Dove soap instead MWF? Cause that all I can think of when I use the stuff.
Ya lather is pretty easy and reasonably thick but I guess I'm still in the figuering out stage as I get mixed results at smooth and sticky results. Some shaves are great, smooth and silky. While others are almost like nothings there at all (a Cider shave? ).
Well it sure does last a long time, IE doesn't erode away quickly, so a puck will last me a while now

My take on MWF is that it produces a very thick and well constructed lather with a pleasant scent. I find you need to use more water than with other soaps and having soft water is a real help. However I would not say it's as good as a typical triple milled soap like Trumpers or Harris or some of the others. I feel it falls just short of that bar. But nonetheless it's still a quality soap and I use it.

As I've been testing MWF I notice that my less than great responces are with my silver tip brushes, the pure badger seems to work better for me.
Anyone else notice this or do I need to work on my silvertip more with that soap??

Thanked: 1587Yeah, my stiffer badger works better than the softer ones I have with MWF. I put it down to the loft rather than the quality of the bristle, but perhaps you are right.
One thing I have not noticed people talking about in here is the longevity of the stuff. I cannot remember when I received my cake (thanks Lee!), but it must have been 3-4 months ago. I have been using it exclusively since I received it, and there is still more than half of it left!

Its one of my regular soaps . I live in a very hard water area & I have found I get the best results by building the lather on my face & making sure it is moist & creamy.
If I dont do this it tends to dry out on my face .
It gets better with use & gives great shaves with no irritation.
I havent tried uberlathering as I get the results I am after by building up the lather on my face.
Cheers Paul

Heh heh. I got a puck of MWF yesterday and got an average shave from it, I had trouble with it getting sticky on my face. For today's shave I re-read this thread and was more generous with the water. I slopped some lather down the side of my wooden palm bowl, and had to stop to wipe it off because I couldn't hang onto to the bowl! Yeah, I'd say it's pretty slick stuff. I'm liking it a lot.

Thanked: 1195I was told a while ago not to bother with MWF because the water in my province is too hard (a claim that I hadn't really heard before), and MWF didn't play nicely with hard water. I'll tell that to my overflowing lather bowl the next time I use it!
